Spine, 2D Skeletal Animation For Games With Linux Support
7 Mar 2014 at 9:14 pm UTC

Looks like interesting software, but I really like what I've used of Godot's 2D animation system so far. However, since I like the MIT license, I can wait for Godot - one of the main Okam guys mentioned adding bones and IK in the future. But what can be done already is pretty nice.

Journey of a Roach Adventure Game Now Officially On Linux

I also beta-tested it a little (not as much as I'd have liked to), and think it's a well-polished, great little game. My 15-month-old son was enamored with it, too!

Wasteland 1 The Original Classic Survival RPG Heading To Desura, DRM Free Fans Go Wild
5 Mar 2014 at 7:29 pm UTC

I got it from backing Wasteland 2. I tried it out for a few minutes and I'm sure it was great back in the day, but yeah, not doing it for me anymore. And I like retro games (#1 game of all time is ActRaiser).

This isn't a port, as it uses DOSbox anyhow, so I'm sure the anti-Steam crowd already got it from GOG or whatever if they really wanted it.

Many Linux Games To Look Forward To In 2014
28 Feb 2014 at 9:51 pm UTC

Most of these look really good!

One thing to note is that Defender's Quest 2 will look quite a lot different (better!!) from the original (see the sole screenshot on the linked page). DQ1 is really worth the money, but you can get it free if you pre-order DQ2. I normally don't much care for tower-defense type games and the art style looked really, um, MS Paint-y, but they did something really right with the gameplay because trying the demo turned into an insta-buy, and just thinking about it makes me glad the weekend is about to start. Personally, I'm looking forward to the sequel more than most of the other games in the list.

(No, they didn't pay me to praise it, and I'm not affiliated with them at all.)

Quoting: liamdawe
Quoting: adolsonEh... It seems kinda silly to complain about having yet another game in any given genre, regardless of saturation level. Especially on Linux.
I completely disagree, we have a massive library of games now and it is easy to get bored when a vast majority of them have very similar game-play - platformers.
Don't buy them?
