Quoting: GuestHas anyone tried this 'Buy a Star' thing? I'm a bit reluctant, expecting that as Linux-only user there might be lots of (for me) useless things in the pot...
Quoting: EikeIt's a lucky bag, right? There's so much I'd really love to play and don't find the time for, I won't risc it.

Quoting: EikeThat's cool! These are very good little games (<= recommendation) and I was sad I couldn't finish the series yet. May I ask how you accomplished this? Some kind of Dosbox behind it? It seems the developer couldn't port the games...
Linux magic ;)

Quoting: EikeHow does it know that wouldn't match my taste? Or do you mean it's displaying the supported OSs?
If you buy on Linux, it informs you if you try to buy a game that isn't compatible with Linux.

Quoting: EikeDoes GOG really support Blackwell Deception and Blackwell Epiphany on Linux?!?
Seems I can already make good use of my account created just yesterday? :)
Yes, we do, and yes, you did :)

Quoting: EikeOne more question of a GOG newbie:
Is it possible to set my favorite OS to only get matching recommendations?
No, however the website will inform you in the shopping cart view if you try to buy a game without Linux support :)

The Inner World - The Last Wind Monk, a colourful and amusing adventure game available on Linux

Quoting: TetsI'll wait. The "system requirements" section on the store page still have "Additional Notes: You must install GLIB 2.28 in order to run JavaFX Media."
These notes come from the Oracle specification and were placed there on developer's request. The game was tested on Ubuntu 16.04 and it should be working without problems on a default system installation :)

From my knowledge, Ubuntu 16.04 has newer version of GLib installed by default, as well as media codec libraries.

Mesa 17.3.0 released to further advance open source graphics drivers
8 Dec 2017 at 4:03 pm UTC

libtxc_dxtn is now integrated into Mesa. GL_EXT_texture_compression_s3tc and GL_ANGLE_texture_compression_dxt are now always enabled on drivers that support them
That's real handy for those that have to install 32-bit versions of Mesa libraries to play DRM-free games :)

GOG now have Epic Pinball and the platformer Jazz Jackrabbit with Linux support

Quoting: Shmerl(...)May be you can ponder this idea, or circulate it around. GOG team can help Wine developers with some remaining issues in The Witcher 3 (graphics and performance), and then wrap TW3 in Wine to make an official release, or may be even use Winelib (since you have access to the sources)? (...)
I admire your enthusiasm :) However I can tell you already this won't happen because of several reasons:

  • GOG does not participate in process of developing CDPR games

  • You are seriously overestimating our resources here - Linux version of Witcher 3 would require literally hundreds, if not thousands of QA hours

  • Even if we went for it, the end result would most likely offer significantly worse experience than the Windows version, and I am pretty sure nobody from Linux community wants that :)

In the future, please direct CDPR games-related inquires to the studio directly:

Quoting: LiamThey also added Jazz Jackrabbit 2 Collection today, but it doesn't have a Linux download
I am pretty sure the game runs flawlessly on Linux with Wine [External Link]. So go for it, if you're a fan!

Here's why we didn't offer a Wine wrapper ourselves:

  • such wrappers take a huge chunk of our QA & fixing time since we need to be sure they are playable & don't introduce bugs at any point in-game

  • they offer a less-than-perfect user experience, since user needs to install loads of 32 bit dependencies and there's no going around that

  • they meet, sadly, with poor reception, aka "meh, I could easily just run it with Wine myself"

This could be of course re-evaluated, if there was a huge demand for Wine-wrapped titles.

GOG adds Linux downloads for retro titles Earthworm Jim 1 & 2

Quoting: pbCould your friendly GOG contacts tell us when they plan to release Galaxy client for Linux? I have hundreds of games on GOG (Earthworm Jims included) and it's a real hassle to manage them, and that's ignoring all the extra content that comes with them (soundtracks, manuals, codewheels etc.).
Hello pb, linuxvangog from GOG here.

We are not actively working on the Linux version of the Galaxy client as it is currently not our foremost priority and we have to put our limited resources to other upcoming features.

We know that this issue is very important for Linux part of GOG community. We will let you know if something changes.

Quoting: hummer010
Quoting: adamhmThere are also quite a few older/classic games on sale on GOG atm that I've made Wine wrappers [External Link](...)
adamhm supports GOG on Linux better than GOG supports GOG on Linux!

Quoting: hummer010These wine-wrappers are pretty much perfect in my experience.
It's true that adamhm does a great job though :)
