Quoting: GoLBuzzkillFirst of all, pushing "Build for Linux" in Unity editor is not SPUPPROTING LINUX you stupid traitors!!!Yes, how can our great nation succeed with all of these traitors to the motherland around us!? We shall commence immediate executions and we will not stop until the amount of Linux games on Steam goes down by at least 40%! Glory to Torvaldstozka!
...
Is it even possible with you traitors to have a game that is "ported" on Linux and to say that that game is objectively tehnicaly bad?(not looking at content)

Quoting: inlinuxdudeWe are actually researching ways to utilize "dd" to write zeros over people's /dev/sda for the optimal effect. The problem is testing this functionality as Liam is quite accident-prone as it is. :PAllow you to completely wipe your PC info if you no longer wish to do itYou mean you're going to enable a remote$>rm -rf /for everyone?? sounds sweet! :D

Regarding the "contributions of many" argument, I'd like to remind you of a dark time when Liam temporarily gave up actively participating in GOL and we went volunteer-only for a couple of days. While there definitely were contributions and many tried their best to pitch in, it was at best a hectic mess of chaos and destruction. So yeah, Liam is kinda an important figure here. Not to mention that the rest of us know perfectly well what kind of compensation we can expect when we write stuff. I for one have gotten way more than I could have ever expected.

I think it's kinda funny how these discussions always tend to have at least one guy go "yeah, but I am poor and cannot afford games so I get them illegimately because human rights". Yeah, it's not like there are any free games out there that could potentially last you a lifetime. Nah, just gotta get those cool games and not settle for anything less.
Edit: Sorry, forgot some </sarcasm> tags there.

Never ever buy games early. You are just potentially cutting into the profits of porting teams not to mention likely casting your consumer protection right out the window by doing that nonsense. Sure, you might get a "good deal" but at the same time you are not helping more games come to our platform and you are taking an unnecessary risk because we have NO IDEA how the game will turn out to be in the end. Even if you have absolute trust in the porting team's or developers' capability you are still taking a risk and sometimes even the good guys fail, so please just stop it.
Also, just to get them clicks, here's an article I wrote specifically about this nonsense.

Livestreaming on Linux? Here's an essential tip you need on getting follower alerts to show up

Quoting: ElectricPrismI skimmed the video and couldn't figure out what it is still. It shows alerts on the livestream, so viewers (and the streamer) can easily see who followed the channel, subscribed or donated. It's essentially a way to reward those actions by giving the viewers a bit of screen time. You'd be surprised how much it seems to matter to some people that they get their username to show up for everyone watching.
Q: Would this say popup a notification in Gnome when GOL Steaming goes live or sit in my Systray? or
B: Is it just to show a funding goal on the streamers or my screen?

System Shock remake has blasted past the Linux stretch goal, officially coming to Linux

Hopefully they don't suddenly "forget" about Linux during the development process and end up with a massive amount of incompatible Windows-only middleware that destroys all chances of a Linux port in the end.
System Shock remake heads to Kickstarter, Linux is the first stretch-goal

Also won't be pledging. I usually don't pledge even when a game promises a Linux version as the main goal but a stretch goal is even more sketchy. Hopefully it ends up happening so that I can buy it as an actual product.

Quoting: reaVerIn the Netherlands there's voices for a Nexit, in Denmark there may be a Dexit. So Samsai, is your country working towards a Sexit? :DThere's a joke going around that it would be called a "Finish". However, that nonsense isn't happening if I can prevent it.
