Kerbal Space Program 1.1 released, updated to Unity5, new interface, new tutorials and more
24 April 2016 at 5:04 am UTC

Quoting: DanielRowellThere have been a few graphical issues reported with the change to 1.1. Most of the work arounds are on bug #7493. I've had to launch the game with the launch option -force-glcore added in steam to get the missing user interface components to appear, other fixes seem to involve changing the games resolution within it's config files.

Hope this helps anyone else struggling with the new release.
Well then, that also seems to fix other games with missing UI elements like Soul Axiom and Slime Rancher. Thanks a bunch.

Feral Interactive release the Linux system requirements for Tomb Raider (updated)
18 April 2016 at 10:51 am UTC

Quoting: AngelicMewIs it because of the driver version that the minimum requirement says NVidia 640?

I was playing this game already with my 560Ti in Windows and it ran pretty well.
560 Ti is faster than a 640, so you shouldn't have problems based on these requirements.

Nice, looks like I won't have to switch GPUs when I play this!

Quoting: liamdaweMy character for example seems to be a black male with a tiny dongle, the exact opposite of me (stop laughing!), and I'm okay with that.

Sure, sure. We believe you. :P

New Linux & SteamOS gamer survey for April
3 April 2016 at 7:44 am UTC

Quoting: mcphailI bought UFO: Enemy Unknown from GOG, for use with OpenXCom. I plan to buy Morrowind for use with openmw. Should these purchases be recorded as non-Linux supported games on the survey? Do we need an extra category for Windows-only games on open source engines, or is that a bit too much of a niche?
I think it would be nice to see that as an addition to the survey. Would be interesting to see how many people buy games to use with native engine replacements.

I believe you messed up the headline. Isn't it supposed to say "Linux Usage Dramatically Drops, Linux Gaming Practically Dead, All Hail Our Corporate Overlords"?

Sorry, forgot to add the </sarcasm> tag.

Developers of ARK: Survival Evolved facing a lawsuit from the Dungeon Defenders devs

I remember hearing that Trendy Entertainment's employees' working conditions were terrible too, not exactly sure when or where though. Anyway, those kinds of contracts are in my opinion simply idiotic and I do hope that this lawsuit ends up costing them more in PR than they are going to gain from it.

ScummVM adds support for Myst in their daily builds

Quoting: LightkeyThis gets a news for ScummVM but not version 1.8.0 with eight new engines earlier this month?

Edit: Would also have been a good opportunity to mention their participation in this year's Google Summer of Code, students come apply! Only other game project I saw was Terasology.
Keep in mind that we write about things that we find interesting/useful. Like I mentioned in the article, I practically never use ScummVM and thus I also don't keep up with ScummVM related news. However, we do have the Contact Us page for news tips and anyone can submit their own articles, so if something is sorely missing and should be covered you know what to do.

Looks like Shadow of Mordor has bad graphical bugs with Nvidia 364.12
28 March 2016 at 5:01 pm UTC

Funnily enough Shadow of Mordor renders just fine on my R7 370 with open source drivers. Everything is on as low as it goes and I had to override some missing GL spec but I definitely see more than just the head.
