Buy games from G2A? You should just stop already, tinyBuild lost out on approx $450K of sales

Quoting: reaVerNo a market place contains sellers and buyers. A store is one seller who owns the to be sold products (until sold) and a market place owns nothing. A store can sell to a market place. G2A owns none of the games. They are providing the market place, which is susceptible to the same problems of any real life market places. The organisation that facilitates these buyers and sellers with a means of meeting eachother by creating a direct online link or by allowing them to enter the market floor irl; is not responsible for each buyer/seller's actions.
Here's the thing, a marketplace is responsible for the stuff that is being sold there, even if the sellers and buyers are separate from the marketplace itself. Stolen or otherwise illegal products are not allowed to be there. It's the same thing with e-marketplaces just like with any and all websites ever: the website is responsible for all content on it regardless of the source, be it a webmaster or a random user.

Quoting: qptain NemoAs far as I understand the process is roughly as follows:
· The scammer purchases a bunch of keys with their fake credit card.
· They get the keys.
· Only then their rigged credit card returns some kind of "oops, not really" response to the bank of the developer/store/whatever, effectively aborting/reversing the transaction.
As the result the scammer now has working keys for free.
There are also scammers that pretend to be game reviewers, livestreamers and youtubers and sell the promo keys they get. This likely only accounts for a small fraction of the fraudulent keys entering the market but it hurts people like us in addition to the developers.

Want to play Morrowind natively on Linux using OpenMW? Well it's on sale on GOG

Quoting: GuestBecause you're encouraging Windows development, so I recommend playing it without donating anything to them if you want to play it, but to each their own.
I know exactly what buying the game supports, hell, I even wrote an article about a similar topic. But I also believe one should pay for the product they use if a price is placed on it. However, I am only willing to pay proportionally to the support they grant, so 50% of the price or less. After all, I only buy the product for the data as the engine and whatever technical support they would provide is useless to me.

I personally don't see the issue here, as I'm sure in the long run OpenMW will support the platform much better than a closed source port by Bethesda.

Quoting: GuestPlease don't send money to developers who only support Windows.

Ever.

If you want to play OpenMW then do so, but do not contribute money to anyone who doesn't support your platform. Doing so is the opposite of the kind of encouragement that we need to be giving developers.
I agree with you to a point. I wouldn't buy the game at full price to play in OpenMW, ever, but at a 50% or higher discount I am fine with it. After all, they (Bethesda) made a critical part of the experience which is the data and OpenMW seems quite capable at providing the rest. If a working, native replacement engine exists I don't see a reason not to buy the game data.

Why would Volition go to a third party to port Red Faction Guerilla when they already have in-house experience of porting their games to linux with the Saint's Row series?
Saints Rows are not in-house ports. They were done by VP (Virtual Programming).

I added a bit about the ideal performance difference between the two cards. However, I still don't believe the 27-50% performance losses can be explained with the hardware difference alone.

Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island Riptide: Definitive Edition released, seem to have hidden Linux versions

Quoting: leillo1975If I buy definitive edition bundle at this time, the game counts like a Linux purchase?
Officially there is no Linux version so I don't think it matters either way. I would recommend not purchasing it and instead putting your money towards officially supported products.

Just for when reality starts hitting your face and disappointment starts kicking in hard, keep in mind that Project Brutality is still a thing and it's a quite wonderful thing indeed if you can just get an engine to run it properly.

Quoting: Samsai808 SB12S could be a reference to MC Hammer lyrics and the image is obviously Mars. Since the new Doom is a Bethesda title it will never get ported. Thus the obvious connection is Hammer and Mars which could mean Red Faction: Guerrilla.
Ugh, Googling around, Red Faction: Guerilla is a 2009 game. Please be Doom, please be Doom, please be Doom
Wishful thinking, Doom 4 will not be ported because it's a Bethesda title.
