Heh, I know. That's why I made the joke. I guess I could have made it even more over the top but I ran out of time during my recording session so I decided to leave it there.

Quoting: aL#stopvideolencegames at the end? thousands of people suffer from it?Did you hear what I said after that? That was me poking fun at overly sensationalist media. That whole part was a huge joke. If I were truly criticising video game violence I wouldn't be praising this mod in nearly every sentence till the end.
i can understand that random stuff comes to your mouth when randomly talking while casting... but thats what video edition is for

Quoting: linuxgamerNote the "Linux - Data" depot. VP ports have a shared data depot because they only need the Windows data files. If I had to make a guess I'd say it's either Aspyr or Feral, but it could also be an in-house port.Quoting: FutureSutureCan anybody decipher who is doing the port?Nobody comfirmed its a port, so theres at least a chance it could be native. But I would guess its an eON by VP.

Quoting: BeamboomSo yes, when I enjoy my software, I want to enjoy the work of professionals. And I sure think it is a point to separate them from the rest.In that case I think you've got the wrong operating system. Better switch back to the Microsoftland where everything is made by industry professionals.

I think calling people who make money doing the stuff they do "hobbyists" is dismissive of their works. Sure, expert knowledge will probably result in better overall quality but if people can make good quality using tools and techniques that some could consider "the noob way" then why judge? I only see the problem if / when developers are actually incompetent in that they are unable to ship a ready product and maintain it. So far I haven't heard that about Brushfire, though I haven't actively followed their forums/blogs/whatever. Any claims about incompetence beyond that point is elitism that serves no purpose.

Well, the line between "a hobbyist" and "a professional" gets blurry over time when it becomes easier to do whatever you happen to be doing. For example, almost any random person can pick up a camera and become a host of their own show thanks to the power of YouTube and accessible video editing software. Same thing with game development, you can these days make good games without even having to know how to program.
I'd say the end result tells more than the journey there in this day and age. If a person can make an awesome game using the "incompetent rando" approach then more power to them.

Making a tutorial for TIS-100 would in my opinion be harmful for the game overall. Everything you need (except for prior programming knowledge) is in the reference manual. The story in TIS-100 specifically puts you in a situation where you must figure out what this machine does and all you are given is the manual that explains basic functionality.
