Heroic Games Launcher 2.7.0 is out now for Epic Games and GOG

There is also the possibility of social functions, playtime tracking and multiplayer for gog games in future releases of heroic.
Haven't seen that in minigalaxy yet.

Heroic works directly with Upstream servers so it uses less resources and is more powerful in the end.

I think this will become more apparent in the future when more platforms are supported like the promised amazon games support

It is not a device where you run ultra high details and 8k resolution with 200fps. You don't have to.
That is something a full blown and specced desktop monster for a couple hundreds and thousands will do for you.

It is absolutely fine for a few years to come while the technology advances and we get things like

Quoting: ShmerlOh, nice to see Freelancer is supported.
A Freelancer remake with high polygon models and high res textures would be awesome :)

Quoting: hardpenguinSomeone is putting up a fight against Heroic 😁
Every project has a different approach.
Being independent from upstream launchers is more powerful and more efficient but means lots of hours (unpaid^^) to work on creating documentation and testing it against a blackbox and if the platform owner decides to change things, you need to do it again.

Lutris a bit more robust against upstream changes and can implement new things faster.
I wouldn't say fight.

https://github.com/itchio/butler [External Link] & https://github.com/itchio/itch [External Link] are there so i guess, integration is just a matter of time and a person dedicating some hours to that.

How does this compare to X4, Freelancer and Dark Space? Feels kind of familiar

Quoting: EhvisAlso noticed that the "nile" dev is working on Heroic now. So I'm hopeful that the amazon games stuff might eventually make it into Heroic as well so I have all my alternative sources in one place.
He already contributed the GoG implementation which happend a lot earlier than the invention of nile.

Quoting: SethMHow is it that Valve is fixing these issues so quickly and the developers (of certain companies ofc), who you would expect to test Proton support at least in passing, are managing to completely break things?
I wouldn't call https://github.com/ValveSoftware/wine/commit/ae2fad7338cc2f914536469656448ecb5fdcf294 [External Link] a fix, it is a hack and a bandaid solution.
