I think having a native Linux version of Battle.net that uses Proton to start their games like Steam does it, would be fine.
Having their games eventually move to Vulkan and become easier to port to Linux would of course be even better.
I can imagine Hearthstone being a nice addition to a portable computer like the steamdeck :)

Quoting: TermyI wouldn't be surprised if those changes are really intended to frustrate devs of alternate clients tbh...Breaking their own cdn backend probably isn't done on purpose. The epic launcher had issues too :D

Hardware development slows down over the years so the differences between two generations become smaller as well.

Quoting: TheRiddickNext year away! This isn't traditional console. And RDNA3 4nm APU's will definitely be available to Valve sometime next year.Is the difference on the CPU and GPU side big enough though?

I don't think we can defeat this pressure to be online for a singleplayer game so it would benefit compatibility if you could just plug in a sim card and be able to start more games.

Quoting: BlackBloodRumMultiplayer on a sim card? Yikes it'd be lag city on the UK networks, where I am we have flaky 4G that often drops down to 3G or even 2G :tongue:The Deck could also be used to have a larger display for browsing the web on the go where at the moment people take a tablet with them.

More Open?
Maybe the Steam Launcher will become partially opensource so people can integrate other platforms and it still looks like it was done by valve by default?
For Deck2 it would be nice if we get a sim card slot and 5g compatibility. So you can truly play on the road without having to go through the hassle of creating a wifi hotspot with your cellphone.

Chatting with Friends, comparing achievements , seeing how long you and your friends played a certain game.
Before you go for new stores, finish the missing features.
Also don't forget that there has to be an open source client like legendary to build upon.
Someone has to do the heavy lifting with research and implementation first ;)
Unless you can provide that Lutris is the easier option.
That needs a lot of tea and pasta:

Quoting: fenglengshunI wonder what's next for them -- I'd personally would love for other stores to get support but I really don't know if that's finally in their target now and if so, which one will get priority. There are still features that are missing compared to the original clients.

There is preliminary work at https://github.com/imLinguin/comet [External Link] but it does not allow for much more than starting Gwent if you check the todo list :)

Quoting: krelltunezAlso, Gwent DOES NOT work on Steam Deck (at least using Heroic). No idea if it would work on regular Linux.Heroic is missing a replacement for the GoG Background Service.
