Heroic Games Launcher v2.19 released adding ZOOM Platform, AppImage updates and more

Quoting: keturiduSame. I don't get logic, why stubbornly not to include Steam games import to Heroic.
Heroic prides itself to replace official launchers and code their own app from the ground up.
Their backend tools speak directly to the servers of Amazon, Epic and GoG.
This is quite an unnecessary task and a hard one to do for Steam, as it is both complex and natively available on all platforms.
It serves as a counterpart for non-steam games.

GOG plan to look a bit closer at Linux through 2026

The important part is the builds.
Too many of them depend on libraries that are no longer available in modern Linux Distros.
Also i think they should get rid of that weird shellscript installer that has an archive wrapped in a .sh file.
I also like to see one general gog script interpreter shipped by galaxy that executes allt changes after the game updates instead of each game shipping its own temporary copy. Doesn't work well with firewalls on all operation systems.

I have some lyrics in my head "how low can you go?" ;)
Very nice to see so many people working on game compatibility improvements.

I hope they will add more payment types soon. Independence and robustness depend on being usable without credit cards that are run by US companies

They don't have to release galaxy for Linux at all to be viable for Linux gaming. There is already plenty of tools handling that.🥰

The question is how can we keep the almost monopoly of Steam in check and balance it out?
I buy my games only on Steam if there is no other option.

That's also incorrect. Kepler supports 1.2. Maxwell and up supports 1.4.
in that case the linked website is inaccurate or out of date

Geforce below 20xx series and amd below 480 are stuck on 1.1.
I happen to have both Geforce 980 and AMD RX 480.
Don't count us out just yet^^
It is not like wine OpenGL would deliver a bad performance for such old games though.
This is more academic, theoretical, proof of concept.
Not having it breaks nothing.

I wish we could replace this with element&matrix.

Linux players on Steam hit an all-time high for November 2025

The avalanche is building very slowly it seems.
Wish it would be faster, but i have no idea if it is just the BF6 community that can't switch or if there is another big obstacle to solve.
