Heroic Launcher for Epic, GOG, Amazon games on Linux / SteamOS v2.17 released

Steam runs natively on Windows AND Linux. There is no immediate need to go through the painstaking process of reverse engineering the Steam app and create an opensource client for it. (That is the required foundation for any platform/storefront that gets included in Heroic).
Heroic is the GUI for any other non-steam platform and it can create shortcuts inside Steam for its games.
Steam is a very complex target , OpenSteamClient has a long way to go as a one man project to come even remotely close to the original.

Keeping heroic from phoning to everything (from the shops to the proton/wine repository)
That part is strange.
Heroic skips analytics wherever possible and the only thing that needs to be toggled is the optional referral on the gog store.
This is confined to the bare essentials to whenever it is needed. How would they know which games you have and what updates are there for a good user experience if they can't poll data from the internet?

no option to disable creepy playtime tracking. For some weird reason disabling the playtime sync is deemed sufficient.
What isn't submitted can't hurt you imho.

We have https://github.com/TheSuperHackers/GeneralsGameCode [External Link] that plans to fix up the code so it compiles again and then have an extended and an original mode for the purists.

Naah no need for unoptimized UE5 remake.
Just the old game updated to work great with modern systems and fps caps removed. Thats all we need.
I want the old classics to be suitable not only for old people with a feeling of nostalgia but also make them interesting again for new generations and a few more additional details in the interface and textures and a few more polygons on the model will go a long way to make this feel "current" again.
Nobody said it has to be unreal engine, nobody says it won't be optimized.
New engine technology brings support for modern hardware and new tricks.
It's not always bad to upgrade , rather the opposite.

Is that a good sign, neutral sign, or bad sign for people that wanted a Generals Remake with improved graphics?

Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 now available on GOG - plus GOG Dreamlist replaces Community Wishlist

The dreamlist is leverage against the publisher and license owners.
It helps if they can show them that people are interested and there might be money in it.
If it takes a few nice words from my past and a click to preserve games, why wouldn't i help?

Money, Time and effort are spent best where most people benefit.

Palworld gets a roadmap including co-op crossplay, world transfers for Pals and an ending

I hope it is true crossplay and not limited between only subsets of platforms.
Have they confirmed that xbox, ps5 and pc will land in the same pools?

GE-Proton 9-23 released with a Battle.net update fix for Linux / Steam Deck

Is there a commit and a link to the bug for this "Bnet update problem"?
Is it the "writecopy" hack in proton to handle some problem with chromium embedded framework or was it something else?

Doesn't heroic or comet have an option for cloud saves
Yes, recent versions of heroic use the new comet component to sync savegames if the game supports it.
Keep in mind that the linux native versions don't support cloudsync at this point in time.
