Steam's Halloween Sale is here with some frightful deals

Is it really that bad? I've read that several times and so far it has kept me from buying the game.
It's very maze-like, and I get the feeling navigation is supposed to be more intuitive with repetition, but I just can't do it. The puzzles (like finding switches to operate doors in other parts of the map) is a big task all on its own.

Here's a complete set of interactive maps to give you an idea of what I'm talking about

I highly recommend Carrion for the entertainment value, but I wish I had a minimap because I'm constantly getting lost

If that were true she'd have gotten rid of Hairy Pothead [External Link] when it was published some 15 years ago. But now there are sequels.

Quoting: CatKillerI did really enjoy the Shadowrun games on the Deck, so I'd recommend picking those up to anyone that's interested. The individual games are in the sale but the trilogy bundle hasn't had that discount applied and so works out more expensive than getting the games separately.
Shadowrun Hong Kong has a couple borked areas. This one battle on a rooftop locks up my Steam Deck completely and I have to force a restart. It only does this after the battle is over and you go to exit the level at the elevator, but there is no save after the fight so you must redo it every time. I gave up after a half dozen retries.

I don't have any problems with it.. In what way does it suck?
I do have a really peculiar issue. Whenever I start Steam via desktop icon which has a
Exec=/usr/games/steam %U
line, the client will start but will only show the indicator which in turn apart from allowing to exit the client will play dead. When starting from the command line with
$ /usr/games/steam
it works as expected (as does Steam when installed as snap package).
I wouldn't say it sucks but it... has issues.
You should edit the desktop shortcut to include a command to log all output to a file on execution, that will help you narrow down the issue.

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company file lawsuit against Palworld maker Pocketpair

Quoting: doragasuWeird they go for patent infringement and not for copyright infringement
They appear to be using Poké Ball-like items in the trailer for Palworld on Steam... Maybe it's something to do with this?

Quoting: PenglingOn the other hand, it's being speculated [External Link] that Nintendo is going after Palworld on patent grounds due to holding patents on the concept of catching monsters in a ball
Quoting: GuestI'm guessing one of the issues is about Patent Publication No. 20240278129(the mechanic of throwing the Poke-ball in third person, in Legends Arceus)
Ah-ha! Exactly as I thought...

Quoting: Penglingsomething that was inspired by real-world gachapon toys that existed before the Pokemon games did.
Well this is interesting... I didn't know this!
Let me also introduce you to Robotrek:

Robotrek (1994) was another early title similar to Pokémon. It was a predecessor to the core gameplay of Pokémon in that the protagonist does not himself fight, but instead sends out robots, which are kept in capsules outside of battle.[6] There was a resemblance in functionality between these capsules and the Poké Balls used in Pokémon.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monster-taming_game#History [External Link]

So the patent is for monsters being caught in balls? How is that worthy of being a patent?
