Epic and Steam banned it but HORSES is out now on other stores

Would you kindly stop pretending that the game at any point featured sexualisation of a minor, without any evidence to support this? It makes it very hard to discuss the actual topic at hand if we also have to pause to consider unfounded scenarios as if they were facts.

Quoting: amataiA horror movie with the same scene that got the game rejected by steam would have caused its authors to be sent to jail, though.It would not. As a concrete example, Lars Von Trier's "Antichrist" (2009) (nominated for the "Palme d'Or" at the Cannes Film Festival and shown uncut in both the UK and the US - a far cry from your jail scenario) features a graphic intercourse scene between two naked adults, showing a toddler present and watching them in the same room. That is a far more explicit scene than the one in "HORSES", which - again - features no scenes with any children and never contained any scenes where a child was shown in connection with anything sexual.

According to the linked statement, the scene you are likely referring to, depicted a scene where a naked woman carried a clothed "young girl" on her shoulders, in a manner similar to someone riding a horse.
According to the developers, the scene was never sexualized (which, considering the subjects of the game, I see no reason not to believe) and it was certainly never used in any marketing, as you suggest, but was in an early - non-public - prototype, only uploaded to Steam to be able to create their "Coming Soon" page.
The finished game does not depict any characters under the age of 20.

Quoting: amataiMy understanding is that the game was banned, at least by Steam, for depiction of children in a sexualized way that was then removed. The game designer dont have my sympaty for using such underhanded marketing technique and I stand by Steam if this is the situation.A source for that would be lovely.

Also worth mentioning, is that there are a lot of modern Amiga games [External Link] on Itch.io as well!
I recommend taking a look at RogueCraft [External Link] (humorous Lovecraftian turn-based dungeon crawler) and Cecconoid [External Link] (twin-stick-ish shooter) (which also has a version with a different soundtrack on Steam [External Link].

Looks somewhat cheesier than I was hoping, but I'll remain cautiously optimistic.
Playnite may get a Linux version during 2026 as the creator plans a move to Linux

Oooh! I see that Playnite successfully does the one thing I really miss from Steam: showing me what the game is.
With a large library full of random things gotten from various bundles, it can be really time-consuming just figuring out what kind of game something in my Steam library is. Steam's game page only shows things that are useful for when I already know what the game is, but nothing to help me remember why I would want to play it.

@Purple Library Guy
Also, just mentioning this in case anyone is wondering: the USB-C port on the Steam Machine is USB 3.2 Gen 2, so eGPUs won't work as an upgrade path.
Personally, I intend to make the Steam Machine a TV gaming machine, where most of my games and my emulation setup will live. For anything more demanding (of which I doubt there'll be much, if any), I have my main PC (from which the Steam Machine can also stream).
I wouldn't be surprised if, like the Deck, this comes in a few tiers. In that scenario, the specs we're discussing would be the low-end tier, and people's concerns would be addressed by the higher tiers.They've already stated in the interview videos that there won't be tiers. The will be two prices, but the only change in hardware, will be in the size of the NVMe drive it comes with - which can be changed/upgraded quite easily by the user afterwards.

Since several comments have asked about the price of the Steam Frame, several of the "hands-on" videos that have come out since the announcement, quote Valve as saying the Frame will be slightly less than the price of the Valve Index.
The Valve Index was (before the current U.S. discount) sold at 749 USD (headset + controllers - base stations; if including the base stations, it was 999 USD), so somewhere slightly lower than that should be the price of the Frame next year.
As for the Steam Machine, they've said it's going to be priced "more like a PC" than a console, which I take to mean that it'll be more expensive than the current-gen consoles. The current average price of the different Xbox and PS models is 565 USD (with "Pro" models going up to $750), so I'd imagine the Steam Machine will be priced similarly to the Steam Frame, probably a bit cheaper.
With no more information given, those are the best ballpark-numbers I can give.

I'm sorry, what? 75€ for the DLC for a game that's about to be de-listed is absolutely bonkers.

If GOG made their preservation efforts open, instead of only for sale, I would be tempted to support them, but that's not what I'm seeing here. I'm seeing a corporate re-release program cosplaying as preservation.
By "making them open", I do not mean putting the games up for free, obviously, but some sort of effort to actually make sure the games continue to be able to run, outside of just buying them again.
This could be:
Honestly, just a company statement about what they would do with their preservation efforts, should the company ever go under or discontinue the program, would go a long way to make it seem more like actual preservation.

This could be:
- Sharing compatible DOSBox configuration files for the original retail release of the game
- Sharing binary patches to ensure compatibility with a predefined Wine version
- Providing just some technical information about what issues a game might have with modern systems

@Caldathras
I don't actually use it much for gaming though, as there's a Decky Loader plugin called "XR Gaming Plugin" that enables much the same functionality, directly from the Steam Deck.
It's not perfect though, there's still some occasional delay in how the screen moves, so it's likely to depend on your comfort level.
That said, the most comfortable way, is still just laying flat down with the Deck on may lap and my face aimed at the ceiling, so no need for any head-tracking that way :grin:
How are these glasses for people who are prone to vertigo/motion-sickness though?I would say they're usable, but with caveats. I have the XReal ones that come with their little "Beam" Android box, which enables some headtracking functionality, so the screen appears to stay in the same location in one's surroundings.
