Steam Play Proton is correctly tracking Linux sales, a statement from Valve

Quoting: Liam DaweGot a reply today from Valve to clarify other sales.

Desktop client takes the initial platform, then two weeks playtime to count. All others (Android, browser) default to Windows then two weeks playtime.

So do ensure you're playing what you buy. I've personally picked up loads on browser and not got around to... so all Windows, damn.
If they detect all browser as Windows, that would be terrible for my statistics. I didn't use Steam before I moved to Linux but practically all my purchases were done through the browser ... I'm not feeling too well about this :/

Quoting: bingusSame as if I buy something from an Android phone... is that technically counted as Linux?
Android is not a supported platform, so it simply defaults to Windows.
It'd be wonderful if it would default to the "Platform preferences" selection, in case the user only has one platform selected (like we've all hopefully done in order to please the wishlist algorithm).

Quoting: TheSHEEEPAt least this way, the series can still be considered flawless - nowhere near the nightmare Fallout 3 was for Fallout fans (and that was actually a finished game that didn't go through development hell).
"Nightmare"? Perhaps, for edgy sheep. For the vast majority of proper gamers Fallout 3 was a masterpiece and GOTY of 2008. Btw, i used to play the original Fallouts as a teenager day 1 back when none of you even knew what they were. They only sold around 130k copies, after all.... So don't try to sell me the "you are just young and never played the classics" crap.
Let's keep things civil, shall we? Of course many people loved Fallout 3, including many players of the previous Fallout games, but it's no secret that a large part of the fans of the first two games, to this day, consider Fallout >3 to pale in comparison. There's really no need to talk about "edgy sheep", "proper gamers" and ageism that wasn't even in The SHEEEP's post when we're talking about a known divide in a fan group. Let's just respect each other's opinions without name calling and elitism, please.

If you're into PS1 style horror and don't mind a bit of fiddling with Wine, then do also take a look at the compilation "disc" Haunted PS1 Demo Disc 2020 [External Link] (it's just a normal compilation/bundle styled around a demo disc).

Quoting: scaineIf this is even vaguely "Reassembly in 3D" then not only am I buying it, I'm buying it for my whole family and we're playing it to death.

I'm not saying I have high hopes. But I'm stupidly optimistic...
You could say that it vaguely is, though the mood of the game is more akin to something like Elite.

Quoting: CybolicNow we just need a port of it back to the Amiga where it originally started development :D
[...] I din't know it was originally for the Amiga!
It was never released for the Amiga, but it could be counted as a spiritual successor to a little gem called Ambermoon, which was. [...]
There was also Amberstar, the precursor to Ambermoon - so in my head, that counts as a trilogy that needs to be completed on its original platform ;)
Albion actually came far enough in development on the Amiga that a demo [External Link] was released [External Link] but unfortunately, with the dwindling Amiga market at the time, the decision was made to drop Amiga support and focus on IBM PCs instead.

There's also this version based on the original binary, ported using static recompilation: http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=albion_sr&dp=true [External Link]

I have no idea how well (if at all) it runs on a standard Linux system as it was developed with handheld Linux gaming systems in mind (Pyra/Pandora), but it's certainly interesting!

Now we just need a port of it back to the Amiga where it originally started development :D

Quoting: MaathThis reminds me a lot of Deluxe Paint 4 on the Amiga. They had the functionality of drawing while the animation was playing.
Oddly enough, I just installed DPaintIV on my new upgraded A500 yesterday :P
You have an old A500 up and running ?
Yup! Have been building it into one of the lovely new Checkmate 1500+ cases [External Link] and sticking upgrades on it for the past month or so.
Cool.
Heard about Commodore enthusiasts , did not know Amiga had a community as well.
I actually like the x1000 but i don't have a spare organ to sell to buy one of those.
I have two A4000s and an A500 (with the Vampire v2 waiting to get my Checkmate case!)
Also, dpaint's source went open! https://github.com/historicalsource/DeluxePaint [External Link]
I politely and jealously hate you a bit, just to know ;)
I've been having a daily routine of refreshing the store pages for the Vampire V2 for a while now (managed to put one in the shop's basket at one point, but it was already sold by the time I clicked "purchase"). For now, I've had to settle for an iRIX Labs Classic 520.
Any tips for snatching a V2?

Quoting: 95ych0I've never played any of Half Life. I hear such acclaim about it. Can I get into the series by playing Black Mesa without playing the original?
I'd say that if you only go into it for the story, then yes. If you want to see what the fuzz is all about, then no; the original Half Life still has areas that function better in its shooter mechanics.
