A Linux beta build of Solstice Chronicles: MIA may come soon
19 May 2018 at 11:44 pm UTC

Quoting: PatolaJust like shadowgrounds, but closed-source and with modern graphics (and hopefully without the awful bugs). Right?
Isn't Shadowgrounds closed-source as well? I remember this being the reason for the Linux version not being on Steam; the existing build no longer works and they don't have the source code for the port.

They not gonna get TW3 or GTA removed, but they is dedicated to hurt VN sales for sure.
I will probably annoy someone with this, but reading that article made me literally say "what the fuck". What a bunch of drivel.
Could not agree more. How anyone could ever think hiding all sexual content or references away could ever somehow make people more in touch with or responsible for their sexually related behaviour in real life, is completely outside my limits of understanding.

We need more sexually related content, more voices, more points of view, not censorship and limiting sexual content to only what's commercially viable (ie. punching prostitutes, since that's apparently more morally correct content for Steam).

how you know if the steam version is with DRM? it doesnt have multiplayer afaik, so it probably wont use steamworks and if the developers do not add any other DRM stuff then its DRM free there also
Steam is in itself a kind of DRM.
Not this again ... Can't we continue that one in the forums?

Graveyard Keeper looks weird and interesting in their new gameplay reveal

Wow! This game looks like it has it all! Farming, Crafting, RPG elements, Adventure, Humour; throw in a bit more sarcasm and possibly a bit of the supernatural and it would check all my boxes for hours upon hours of entertainment :D

This is going straight on my wishlist! I got some lovely Lotus 2 flashbacks from that trailer :D

Nightdive Studios show off how System Shock is returning to the original vision
13 Apr 2018 at 10:58 pm UTC

Quoting: FeistSounds rather hopeful at least.

Though I am kind of curious about what *precisely* they were cooking up before they started over. Was it really so wrong/disastrous/fragmented as they are making it sound like? Or could most of what they had worked on been integrated into the finished game without making the end result a horrific "non-system shock" failure...?
There are a number of videos and images posted of their progress on the previous build on their Kickstarter page; seemed like they were doing something along the scale of the new Prey or Dishonoured. It looked like it could have been quite good, but also at a much higher budget than the current version and diverging significantly from the original System Shock.

AMD has announced 'Radeon-Rays' an open source ray tracing SDK using Vulkan

In the meantime, isn't Blender doing almost the same with their realtime Eevee renderer? I know Eevee is not technically a ray tracer, but isn't it pulling similar tricks?

I'm supporting you on Patreon and Flattr :) I suggest other look into either as well (Flattr in particular is pretty clever).

The 25th Ward: The Silver Case, the follow up to The Silver Case released with day-1 Linux support

Sorry if I missed it, but what type of game is this? The trailer didn't tell me anything (at all) and the description could be anything from a point'n'click adventure game, to a platformer to a story-based FPS.

Oh wait, it has a "Visual Novel" tag. Is it animated then? In what way is it HD now?

EDIT: To answer my own question, this other trailer gives a much better indication of what type of gameplay and presentation to expect: View video on youtube.com

Serious Sam's Bogus Detour is being pirated with permission from the developer

I actually completely missed that this came out for Linux! I remember reading about it before it came out, but I don't believe Linux was mentioned where-ever I read about it.
So, in short, if they hadn't pulled the free-piracy-trick, it would have remained missed for me. Good work Voksi and Devolver Digital!
