Without any information contradicting what Stephen Kick has said (and he really should be the one to know, seeing as he's both the founder of Night Dive Studios and the project leader), I see no reason not to believe what he's saying. Also, there's nothing to be gained from throwing away the work and goodwill they've achieved so far, so even with my tinfoil hat on, I still see no reason not to trust the update.

Quoting: FoxyIf we're just going to ignore what the project lead is telling us and make up our opinion based on whatever we want to believe, why even discuss the update at all?Quoting: scaineBefore saying that kind of things maybe you should learn to build your own opinion instead of believing things of one person especially when this guy who was supposed to lead the project ended up by tooking the money of thousands people to play with it.Quoting: FoxyFirst they ask for more money to keep up the project & now they decided to cancel it ???The article is pretty clear that it's not cancelled, but maybe you should read the original comment to make up your own mind.
Unbelievable...
Sorry but I don't support this !

I'm actually quite positive regarding this news. They were starting to add a bit too many features and the design work, while impressive, was certainly larger in scope than what was initially planned. I think, by putting the project on hold and reassessing, it will be much easier for them to see which new features and designs actually fit with the original System Shock and which were taking the project too far away from its roots. If all goes right, this could very well result in a better final result than where they were heading last month.

I haven't played with it in a while, but I do intend to get back to it at some point, if not to finish my own little game, then at least to finish my Walker reimplementation: https://twitter.com/Cybolic/status/624493160262184960 [External Link]

Oooh! I was looking at their blog just the other day and was a bit saddened that I didn't see a mention of Linux support. Sad no more! The game looks fun and definitely something I want to support.

Sure, they "haven't forgotten", they're just not doing it. It's your average teenager who knows they were supposed to clean their room, they just won't.

Wow, that's quite the style! Putting a more "realistic" story in a cyberpunk setting is also very welcome. I'll be sure to pick this one up :)

Lovely attitude! I couldn't help but buy the game after reading that, even though it'll take a while before I have the time to play it.

Quoting: DuncIt looks nice, evoking the old VCS stick in the same way the Box does the console, but I'm not convinced it'll be a good controller. The original one was terrible. (Seriously, even back in the day I hated it.) I'm sure there'll be support for other controllers, but they really should design a more traditional gamepad if it's going to be more than a retrogaming device.Agreed, though this looks like a joystick I'd enjoy playing Lotus III on :D

Quoting: EikeDoes this game have a proper story and ending?I haven't played it myself, but I've seen mentions of the nice ending/final explanation the game supposedly has, so it sounds like there's at least a story end; don't know whether that's the end of the game though.

Now, I've never played any version of this (though I've wanted to), so I'm purely basing this on the descriptions of others.

Quoting: fractalIs this the version that uses binaural audio? I recall playing it with headphones on PSP and was genuinely impressed. From reading the Steam forums, this version would seem not to be the PSP version, but rather the "original" version. So, no fancy audio effect, a bit different soundtrack, less/different voice over and the original graphics (ie. less anime style and no scene pictures).
