VR is here to stay, the question is just when it'll become mainstream.
Sidenote: Seeing as all the teenagers I know (which, admittedly, aren't that many seeing as I'm about twice that age) have at least some form of VR device (Google Cardboard / plastic equivalent and/or a GearVR), VR is already a part of their notion of which established media platforms exist. As VR gets better and better, I find it hard to believe that an entire generation will suddenly decide to just drop the entire medium.

Thanks for the warning! I love a good, psychological horror game (or novel or film) but I absolutely despise jump-startles (I don't like calling them scares; they aren't) and the story and mood needs to the centrepiece of the experience, so I'll be giving this one a wide berth.

Ahh, too many good games coming out now! I thought I was done buying games for this month, but there goes another straight in the basket! I liked Grimrock (though didn't love it), had quite some fun with Eye of the Beholder on my trusty old Amiga and I do love me some steampunk, so I'm looking forward to spending some time in this universe :D

I haven't bought anything on GOG in ages, due to the ease of use of Steam, but the fact that GOG helped the Linux port just got them a sale :D

Without any information contradicting what Stephen Kick has said (and he really should be the one to know, seeing as he's both the founder of Night Dive Studios and the project leader), I see no reason not to believe what he's saying. Also, there's nothing to be gained from throwing away the work and goodwill they've achieved so far, so even with my tinfoil hat on, I still see no reason not to trust the update.

For what it's worth, I just bought every DLC for Stellaris and Cities: Skylines (the two games I do occasionally play) that were remotely interesting to me as well as pre-ordered Surviving Mars. It's roughly what I normally spend on games in 4 months, but I hope this at least pushes the stats slightly more in favour of us Linux folk.

I'm actually quite positive regarding this news. They were starting to add a bit too many features and the design work, while impressive, was certainly larger in scope than what was initially planned. I think, by putting the project on hold and reassessing, it will be much easier for them to see which new features and designs actually fit with the original System Shock and which were taking the project too far away from its roots. If all goes right, this could very well result in a better final result than where they were heading last month.
