Surprised it matters what brand of fan it is.
The coil in a fan produces multiple electro magnets. The coil is suspended between physical magnets of opposite polarity. When current is fed to the coil, the magnetic repulsion causes the motion. If you introduce an extra magnet in the vicinity, it will affect the magnetic field, and should affect the speed of the fan. If the dbrand is using a strong magnet, the greater the chance of affecting the magnetic field in the fan.

Glorious Eggroll version of Proton since V6.16(?), already has AMD FSR routines patch for fshack. NVidia now trying to get their routines in to main Proton instead of the AMD ones people have already been using for months via GE.

Quoting: melkemindMy dream would be Torchlight and Torchlight 2 updated with Steam Deck support. As of now, they don't even support controllers, so I'm not holding my breath.Steam input in the Steam client already (for years) allows using a controller to play games that only support keyboard/mouse. The fact that the Deck also has the touch pads, in addition to the sticks (like the Steam controller), means that mouse substitution will feel much better than using a stick.

Quoting: Rafii2198Do we know which games support it now or are going to support it?How many (EAC using) games, have been recompiled using the required latest SDK, as well as having the Proton/Wine options enabled, and had that game update pushed via Steam, in the hours since this announcement?
I would guess ZERO.

Quoting: SchattenspiegelInteresting: with SSD + HDD(raid0) ~ 1 minuteHDD went to sleep and motor powered down? When remounting, the drive would be woken up.
with SSD only ~ 12 seconds
to load the client.
Edit:
And for reasons unknown the loading time stays at 12 second after remounting the HDDs even after rebooting :woot:
Thank you very much! I would never have tried that.

xow, a Linux driver for the Xbox One Controller wireless dongle has a new release up

Since switching to xow, it's great. There was a rumble problem with ALL games launched under Proton, but that has been fixed. I've been cloning the repo and building a new version when there's been worthy changes, but now that .3 is out it should be in great shape for use.
Under Windows, you can plug any 3.5mm headset in to the controller and it would automatically divert OS audio to the headset, and switch back when unplugged. I thought this was an amazing feature. The xow author has it on his todo list for Linux, but is looking for help on Github. Would love to see that last part working.

Quoting: PompesdeskyAny chance this would help in case of Bluetooth connection with Xbox One controller ? Mine keeps connecting/deconnecting indefinetely, I could never get it to work.I have been using bluetooth connectivity for about a year on Linux, after getting the ERTM setting fixed so it didn't repeatedly dis/connect. Even then, I fairly often had problems with multiple XBox One S controllers. They would become unresponsive during a race even though the lights said it was connected fine, or rumble going nuts and not stopping till I quit the game and relaunched to continue. Many times in Rocket League, my controls would just go dead and I'd have to turn off the controller and back on. If I was lucky this would work and I'd only be a bad teammate for <10secs, but otherwise I'd have to completely shut down and power off the PC to do a hardware reset of the bluetooth receiver.

Nice article to help people through the issues of using Linux as their chosen platform. Seeing it all spelled out here though, reminds me that Linux (in some environments), has a long way to go before it can be usable for 99% of the population.
I gave up AmigaOS for Windows over 20 years ago now. Years before that, I couldn't fathom why anyone would willingly use a Windows PC over an Amiga. In retrospect, it's obvious that a desktop computing platform with a non-X86 arch with proprietary bus interfaces, was doomed. Apple somehow made the transition & F'ed over their user base (TWICE 68K ->PPC -->X86), but still retained enough to be an option in the current day. Sadly C= did not (Sorry for the anti-Apple rant but ^%#(@*$#^#).:-)
Since coming to Linux a little over a year ago, I feel the feeling I haven't felt since my Amiga days. However, this time I'm on an underdog that has "open" access to all the CPU and GFX power the industry has to offer, as well as access to every bus interface under the sun.
I hope there comes a day when "JUST WORKS" is a thing with Linux >90% of the time, the way it is with Windows. Until then, we can edit our startup-sequence with appropriate commands to run Enforcer and Segtracker, as well as running SnoopDOS, to help the devs "MAKE IT RIGHT" whenever we can. (Shout out to Amigans!)
