The FUNgeon Crawlers Humble Bundle has some good loot

As Tchey said, Siralim Ultimate is an amazing game to create crazy builds in a creature-collector kind of game. Do investigate what you are getting yourself into.

Lunacid is also great, a kings-field-like game but generally modernized, to me it's basically flawless. Devil Spire looks similar but is much smaller and a rogue-like, not bad, not great, it's fun for a few afternoons.

I haven't played the others.

Steam Deck 'on track' for February, Valve hopes for millions by end of 2023

To me it looks like the success of the Steam Deck is completely in Valve's hands.

If they keep a fair price, promote the console and maintain the OS and the hardware properly it will be a huge success. It's not like there is much competition and there is absolutely no company that can provide what they can (being the owners of the biggest (by far) gaming store and all that).

But it's Valve, their attention span is almost as bad as Google's and they seem to believe that their products need no promotion, for some reason.

Let's keep in mind that Steam OS has been in a pretty poor state for a long time, Half Life Alyx came out almost 2 years ago and we haven't heard from them about VR games since then (although everything points to them being in the middle of the development of a new game but they are always in the middle of something that never gets released) and their controller was discontinued, probably because of the mixed reception it got. On the other hand I think people are happy with the Valve Index, it's difficult to say since they don't allow reviews of it.

So... I hope they succeed but it depends on them. We'll see.

PS4 emulator Spine gets a new demo release

Quoting: DerpFoxI truly believe we are better than that.
That's one of the problems of Linux people. We are not better than them, we are just different.

Of course I also think that a Linux exclusive is as bad as a Windows exclusive but I write all my code on Linux and for Linux so I can't really say anything to this developer.

Quoting: elmapulthe ironic part is that sony is porting their games, so we kinda dont need this anyway...
There are many many games on PS4 that are exclusive to that console and are not developed by Sony, so an emulator is very needed. And even from Sony themselves we still can't play Bloodborne or GoW on PC so... I'll be really happy once the emulator is working.

The best Linux distros for gaming in 2021

I couldn't disagree more.

Every time I have tried Ubuntu in the last 3 years I have had lots of problems.

I run Manjaro in my main gaming pc and it's been running great for 2 years, always updated. I did have a kinda serious issue but it was only once, shit happens. 99% of the time everything is a click away, no effort. My Win10 gives me way more headaches so there's that.

Still I don't recommend Manjaro. The more I know about them the less I like using this OS. I'm planning on moving to Arch soon but well, you never get around to do it.

I know nothing about Pop!_OS so I can't say anything about it. I did run Linux Mint for a while with no issues, I only left because they dropped KDE.

Humble Choice for December has 14 games including Children of Morta & Overcooked 2
5 Dec 2020 at 3:31 pm UTC

Quoting: ageresI can't use 100% of this bundle because EA Play is not available. It would have more value if I could play Star Wars: Jedi and Battlefield 5 as well.
Oh, thanks for the info. I didn't even see that new customers of the Humble Choice were getting 1 month of EA Play Pro.

FYI: "Returning" customers get an offer of 1 month of EA Play Pro for 10 bucks (instead of 15), not bad I guess but I'm far from interested.

Humble Choice for December has 14 games including Children of Morta & Overcooked 2

It's a pretty good month, I'll pick it up for sure.

Quoting: DoctorJunglistThis bundle contains plenty of games I was interested in, but I probably would not spring to buy them on their own.

Bundles like this are nice for giving you the opportunity to give it a shot for some games that would otherwise pass your attention.
Yep, that's what I expect from Humble Choice lately. Being a "Classic" customer helps since I don't pay that much. I have paused most months this year though.

Quoting: ageresSure, it's not AAA, but the games are rather good and are rated "very positive" on Steam with mostly 90+% ratings. Too much anime though. I was looking forward to play Children of Morta, Indivisible, The Beast Inside. But Humble says that EA Play Pro is not available in my country for some reason .
Why do you need "EA Play Pro" to play "Children of Mora", "Indivisible" or "The Beast Inside"? All of them are in steam and they don't require anything from EA AFAIK.

BTW, there is no anime game this month, unless you count as anime anything coming from Japan.

Ziggurat 2 - it looks awesome and it appears they're planning Linux support

I loved the first one, I hope this one is just as good and that it comes out on Linux too.

Borderlands 2 will see no further updates for Linux / macOS from Aspyr Media
12 Sep 2020 at 4:54 pm UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: marcelomendesWell, I wasn't sure about buying BL3, but after this I will just remove it from my wishlist. Thanks for the heads up Liam.
I really have no idea how that makes sense to you.

Borderlands 3 is a windows-only game. Gearbox doesn't give a shit about linux. They are not paying Aspyr to put the DLC into Linux, so Aspyr is not porting it.

If you were planning on buying BL3, what has changed? There were no plans to release it in Linux anyway. I really don't understand your logic.

Please keep in mind that I'm not defending BL3/Gearbox. BL3 is a pretty terrible game (although the gunplay is pretty fun) and Gearbox is a pretty terrible company.

The weekend round-up: tell us what play button you've been clicking recently

Quoting: XpanderBorderlands 3, because free weekend. Honestly, i have to say, this game is pretty bad. Runs okaish, looks ok, if blurs and TAA are turned off, but combat is so boring and dull. not enough feedback from guns or hits on the enemy or yourself, feels quite bland. Just cant enjoy it because of that. Lucky that it was free this weekend, so now i know i wont buy this game.
I disagree. Borderlands 3 has the best gunplay of any borderlands game. Shooting weapons is much more satisfying than it was in BL2 or BL:pre-sequel. The guns have more weight to it.

The problem with BL3 is that the history is pretty bad, the bad guys are terrible, most of what you do makes no sense and the characters are all 11/10 on the scale of craziness and random-lol, which results in none of them standing out from the others and the funny dialog falling flat. You need some normal people to make the crazy ones stand out. You need low times to make the high times stand out. You just get used to it and then you are bored.

Pretty bad game overall. I finished BL2 like 4 or 5 times. After finishing BL3 I just uninstalled it.

BTW: I played BL3 on windows and the bugs were all over the place. I would get disconnected from my friends. Loading times would get stuck. We all had problems with it. Mind you we were playing on steam so the game was out for a long time already. I regret paying 30 bucks for it.

PS: It does look good playing on max settings. Most characters from the old games had a cameo but it wasn't enough to enjoy them. Most of the time they would appear in a recording or something and just disappear for the rest of the game. I was under the impression that at least Tiny Tina would have a bigger role. It's not the case.

I'm completely with Liam on this one. There is not much more to say about this topic.
