Quoting: grigiI didn't know it even existed :-(Not so much that as the entire franchise has long since been driven into the ground and corporate is simply trying to recover anything they can from anywhere.
But having the licensing expire after a mere 2 years is ridiculous. Its continued sale will result in continued royalties, I really don't get why :-(
Edit: I read that apparently Paramount/Skydance decided to up Star Trek licensing costs by 2000%
Feels like the "new owners" want to price out the small guy :-(

If we don't slam the door shut on this at the start then we'll never be able to close it later. Simple as.
For the first time in my life I have an opinion on SystemD because. It seems to be the vehicle chosen for this power-grab. Therefore I am switching distros to specifically avoid it.
Typing this on Mint, switching my laptop to MX Linux. Business machine is OpenMandriva, probably also soon to be MX. The machine I'm typing on probably Void.

DOOM: The Dark Ages needs workarounds on Linux with AMD GPUs, a fix has been merged into Mesa

Considering that it appears this installment of DOOM doubles down on all the things I didn't really like from Eternal while slowing you down and forcing a defensive playstyle, I'm really feeling better and better about making this one into a Steam Summer Sale kinda purchase. In like, five years.
Still running a 5900X/RX6800XT combo on a 4K screen. AMD claims they don't plan to do a XX80 or XX90 series GPU with RDNA4 but I frankly don't believe it. At the very least we'll get a tweaked version of the XX70 series sometime next year.
Until then I'm still slogging through Eternal's DLC and honestly it's more of a chore than it is enjoyable.

"Announced in a blog post on May 1st, Epic will take a 0% store fee for the first $1 million revenue developers make per app per year."
In other words, Valve is still winning.

"I haven't seen this problem on Mint Xfce machines I administer, for what that's worth. Is this a fresh install or did you upgrade from an older Mint?"
Upgrade. I was on Fedora for more than five years, then Debian, then Mint for like the last two years. OpenMandriva seems to do a lot of Red Hat things without being tainted by IBM, so going there next. But Mint is great distro and if things go bad I'll be right back.

Mint XFCE. I have this weird bug where the network icon in the panel just sort of disappears and won't come back. Looking to hop to OpenMandriva. Maybe next weekend.

Well...... I already wasn't planning on buying this right away, and since it's gonna require a new GPU I might be even longer. I'm running a 6800XT @4K, so what are the odds that it will run well with anything less than whatever AMD has coming this spring in the $700 or more price bracket?

Wow, twenty years. I bought HL2 and Vampire the Masquerade BLOODLINES the same week at Best Buy in Lynchburg, Va. I couldn't get HL2 to run because of Steam so I ended up pirating it and playing the RAZOR1911 version with the Steam emulator. I didn't log into Steam again until I bought another AMD GPU years later and got The Black Box, which was The Orange Box except missing Ep1. I was amazed that Steam finally worked.
The really funny thing, I wasn't impressed with HL2 until Ep2. I LOVED Ep2 and finally connected with it.
Absolutely LOVED VTMB and still do to this day. Finding out that they ruined the new one was a major let down.

[sigh]
They could have continued and finished the storyline from TRON: Uprising giving Boxlietner another go at the role, but just like the upcoming TRON3- NOW WITH MORE JARED LETO we're getting TRON Without TRON. Gameplay looks interesting, obviously they copied TRON: Legacy's visuals, with a few hints that the music will call back to it as well.
Seriously, is it too much to ask that while Boxlietner is still alive to do the acting that we get Alan Bradley being digitized into the grid to interact with TRON? Apparently.
