Assassin's Creed Valhalla announced, will release on Stadia but no Steam release (EGS)
1 May 2020 at 1:45 am UTC Likes: 1

"For those of you hoping to grab it on Steam to play with Steam Play Proton, you're in for some disappointment there as it's going to the Epic Games Store instead."

I wish that I could say that this annoyed me, but I wasn't gonna buy this one either. [checking] Oh, I do have Far Cry5. There must have been a sale. Assassin's Creed 3 was the last time Ubi will get my money for an Assassin's Creed title. The concept is played out, and 3 was an awful convoluted slog which should have been neatly streamlined. Far Cry 4 was a generic rehash of Far Cry3, and I honestly wasn't even sure I had FC5 on my Steam account until just now.

Bottom line, Ubisoft went from crap studio to pretty damn good right around the the first PoP:Sands of Time. Yep, all the way back then. Ubi was great up until recent years, and then it's like they caught the woke brain virus but just aren't brave enough to go down in flames like everyone else with that brain disease, so instead they've gone as generic as possible and it shows.

"Oh, wait, Vikings TV show is trendy now? Let's use it as setting for AC." Can't wait to have to pick out furniture for my viking tent or go collect fifty skull goblets for a new outfit because this is Assassin's Creed. What were you expecting, to stalk and assassinate people?

Linux hardware vendor System76 will have their own Keyboard out this year
19 Mar 2020 at 10:43 pm UTC

Hey maybe we could talk Purism and System76 into collaborating - System76 could design an all-AMD gaming laptop, and Purism could design the hardware killswitches for it.

I just bought my first mechanical keyboard this year, a Logitech K840 refurb from Newegg. I'm not really a clicky keys connoisseur, but so far I quite like it. The RomerG's are fine. So for me to even look at this one it's probably gonna need Cherry MX Browns.

Quoting: commodore256Democracy sucks, you're at the mercy of the 51%.[...]
I repeat it's not a democracy, for fuck's sake please stop calling these governments the same name when they have nothing in common. In a democracy you vote for the laws directly, you and evrybody DO the politics, you don't vote for someone to do politics for you.
There are multiple types of democracy, direct and indirect. In an indirect democracy you absolutely vote for a representative who will theoretically press for your interests. A direct democracy is the rule of the mob, where 51% can drag the other 49% wherever they want, but due to simple corruption an indirect democracy can do the much worse with a smaller percentage required.

Quoting: commodore256Taxation is theft, it's being taken under threat of kidnapping and if you resist kidnapping via defending yourself instead of running away, they kill you. I don't care who you're stealing from, it's still theft. I think trusting central planners and a monopoly on arbitration not to be corrupt is utopian.
Awesome, this clarifies everything. Best wishes going forward.
Allow me to elaborate. If you don't pay the required tax, the bureaucracy sends armed men in costumes with shiny props called badges and very real guns to kidnap you. After they shoot your dog and lock you into metal bondage gear, they will deposit you into a gay dungeon, unless you resist, in which case they will simply execute you. Or you could pay them to not do that under duress. I hope this gives you the clarity you seek.

Pretty rich coming from a Trump supporter.
How so exactly? Trump has been investigated by multiple federal agencies for more than three years now. And nothing. Bernie has never been subjected to any level of law enforcement scrutiny at all, so I say it's his turn.

Quoting: orochi_kyoI just want to say that I envy you all. If you can take the lies about socialism so lightly, If you think that someone is just "joking" when he said socialism is about taking "someone else things and give it to others."
This is the kind of lies and jokes that will give Trump four more years of madness, kids in cages like dogs, making a wall instead of investing in health care or education, more hunger and people dying of treatable diseases and a possible third world war.
You are the kind of people who can see the world in fire and don't give a crap about it. Good for you.
Yeah, not lettin' that go. I'm going to respond in reverse order.

1)"You are the kind of people who can see the world in fire and don't give a crap about it."

I voted for Trump because the Russian military had approximately 40,000 troops on the border of Ukraine by end of October 2016. They were going to invade if HRC won the election because she had already stated that she would bring Ukraine into NATO, which would give the US Air Force the ability to install medium range nuclear-tipped missiles on the border where they had a five minute flight time to Moscow. This would break Mutually Assured Destruction which Putin could not allow, and the whole thing would have spiraled into a nuclear WW3. Trump stopped all of that just by beating HRC.

And now America is slowly withdrawing from the pointless wars in the Middle East that we never should have been part of. Thanks again to Donald J. Trump.

2)"making a wall"

I didn't want a wall, I wanted to dig a shipping lane. Something to connect the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean like the Panama Canal, but quite a bit bigger. It would have been the greatest public works project in all of human history, and would have provided sea water to the Southwest in preparation for graphene-filtration based water desalination plants powered by the abundant solar there, which would then green the desert and allow major cities like LA to stop sucking the Colorado River dry. It would also provide an alternate water source for the Ogalla aquifer currently being drained. Once matured after America endured the early-adopter tax( and happy to do it) the filter tech could be exported to the third world where it could provide cheap freshwater to places that still consider such a thing a fantasy. Best of all, the new port cities created would generate enough economic activity that the whole thing would eventually be paid for.

3)"kids in cages like dogs"

Started under Obama, ended under Trump. You literally have a completely inverted view of reality.

4)"If you think that someone is just "joking" when he said socialism is about taking "someone else things and give it to others."

It *is* just taking something that someone else made, by men with guns, skimming most of it off the top for the government to hoard, and then handing the crumbs to the peasants. Peasants that then starve to death after the government nationalizes agriculture.

Wow, one pithy comment with some wordplay pointing out that these guys just shamelessly ripped off SuperMario and everybody loses their minds.

Maybe I should do that more often.

"production". "Seize the means of production". Not, like, the products of production. And no, while Sanders is certainly into redistribution, as are social democrats and other welfare state types, that's because they're all capitalists (including Sanders, whatever he may say). [/quote]Bernie isn't a socialist, he's a grifter. The only person he's ever lifted from poverty is himself, and he did so on the taxpayers dime first from his government paycheck followed by laundering his campaign money. Those new beach houses and that bright red Audi R8 he picked up after his 2016 endorsement of HRC should have been a clue to everybody about the guy. He's doing it again this year, his campaign has already been caught running it's ads through an agency owned buy his children. My guess is his campaign strategy was to make himself such a PITA that he could really leverage a hell of a payout for conceding and endorsing whoever the party leadership actually wanted.

I'm not engaging in political ideas, I'm not arguing economic systems, I'm outright saying that Bernie Sanders is almost certainly a criminal that needs to be investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the relevant federal laws.

Quoting: The_Aquabatyou are lucky I guess just check the user profiles here there is still A LOT people using hardware more than 4 or 5 years old. You miss the point Linux is about extending the lifespan of old hardware. this has been discussed before but contrary to popular belief we Linux users are not bleeding edge lords... again check the profiles and you will see there are lots of ppl and on really old hardware.
Yeah, one has to be lucky for having a job that gives you the pleasure of changing your PC every two years, the same reason console users use against PC gaming because people like him are a minority, but really vocal, they actually make people think that you have to be buying new GPU and memory modules every 2-3 years.
I make $12 an hour. I live very cheap. I don't drink or smoke, don't eat at restaurants, don't date. I would like to do all of those things, but that takes money I don't have. I had saved $2000 for a 3900X/x570/x500XT system last year. Then an $1100 car repair on a Nissan Murano that then threw a rod 35 miles later forced to me buy a very used Ford Explorer for the remaining cash just to get to work. Instead of what I could have gotten I'm using a $150 mobo, a CPU I got on sale for about $100(If I had known about the 1600AF for $85 I would have bought that), a NVME that I've had sitting for six months because I bought on sale it in anticipation of the good system, along with the PSU I also bought at that time. Instead of the x500XT I was going to buy along with an LG 144 hz 32 in monitor, I carried over my existing gtx1060 and $120 Spectre 60hz tv.

The 16GB DDR4 3200 I bought instead of the 32GB 3600 I wanted is about $75 on newegg. If you have a job you can afford that. The 2600 is overclocking using it pretty okay. I'm only pushing it to 4GHZ, nothing bleeding edge. Cooler is a CM 212 EVO($29.99) with an extra fan carried over from the CM 212 EVO on my 2013-ish era Phenom II that is now just sitting there waiting to be some kind of server.

You know why I didn't buy a new GPU+monitor? It's because I need to build a CNC gantry router. I've been picking parts for literally years and should have the final pieces this next month or two. I'm hoping to do a Bitchute/Youtube channel featuring it as well as take side jobs using it because frankly no is calling me back when I send them my resume, so I guess I'm going into business for myself. I don't need the processing power for games, I need it for video editing.

Quoting: TheRiddickFirst load time is fine,
did you try with 8gb of RAM?? with more is fine but with that amount it is not.
I know this is gonna sound strange, but my first thought when you said that was "who is still running with only 8gigs of ram?" I've been on sixteen for like seven years, back in the DDR3 era. I'm on 16 now because I was impatient to get my new Ryzen budget build up and running. I'll upgrading to 64GB by end of Summer. A 3900X or even 3950X by end of year to replace the placeholder-2600 currently installed. Probably a 1TB Samsung PCIE4 NVME, also. New GPU+43in 4K monitor sometime next year.

Memory leaks should be fixed, granted, but get with the times.
