Quoting: MohandevirDeckard? Steam DECK Augmented Reality Device? :smile:It does seem like a pretty obvious correlation. AR over VR would be interesting given the formers greater complexity though. A standalone headset would definitely do wonders for pitching the steam deck, it will purportedly be capable of running other headsets, but one optimized for the deck could help match the performance gap.
Imagine if you could customize the Steam Deck colours - try it out with this tool

Alternatively hire some scientists to grow said people inside of test tube chambers and force them into slave labour.

Quoting: PhiladelphusThrow lots of money at people and tell them to show up.Quoting: Lars Wingefors, co-founder and Group CEO of Embracer.“I’m looking forward to continue growing the Embracer Group both organically and in-organically the decades to come.”How do you in-organically grow a group?

12 years is a crazy long time. I think this site is at least somewhat responsible for me being able to make the switch fully to Linux some 6 or 7 years ago. I'm regrettably not very active in the community here (time constraints pulling me in every direction) but its served as my only source of gaming related news for quite some time now.
Here's to another 12 years before linux becomes the mainstream desktop!

Valve need more testing of the latest Proton Experimental for input latency improvements

From the tweet I'm not sure if he means internal or external testing is needed.
If it's external testing they don't seem to have a link for providing feedback...
This is the sort of thing that is hard to measure objectively, it would likely need specialized monitoring tools to evaluate correctly, but maybe that's something that valve have already implemented with crash reports that are sent to Valve in proton?

Quoting: scaineHas there been any indication as to what we should look out for? It seems a bit vague on detail!I have the same question.

Quoting: DebianUserNot a surprise, a game on linux market has way less concurrence than on the Windows one, % of users is meaningless if the offer is not the same !Makes me wonder if all games supported linux if linux user share would bounce up to 3-4ish percent, or if linux user share would go down to 1% amongst all games.
I have always think that way, and it seems to be confirmed by numbers we can find from different sources.
Hints appear of Valve making a handheld Steam "SteamPal" Neptune console
25 May 2021 at 3:42 pm UTC
A lot of major industries are getting set to release new AR glasses in the upcoming year, which I think would make is a good time to provide a mobile device that is capable of delivering decent gaming experiences with them.
With proton I do think that there is a much greater chance of success with any new steam hardware than steam machines which probably would have also done better in this market than previous ones. (The new consoles are basically steam machines with a windows OS)

Quoting: Liam DaweAnd here I was thinking that the market it for it would be with vr/ar headset compatibility...Quoting: TheSHEEEPOn the other hand, I don't really know if there is a market for such a handheld.Well, thinking on it, look at how popular other handhelds like GPD Win has been and the excitement around things like the Alienware Concept UFO prototype and others. There's probably a good market for it, probably more so than VR I would say honestly.

I'm not actually interested in a subscription model per se, but one thing that would be nice about it is being able to test more games under proton without having to commit to buying a game that may or may not work.
