Heroic Games Launcher is a new unofficial Epic Games Store for Linux

Quoting: ObsidianBlkHaving read the comments posted up to this point, I think you may have miss read them a little. People are not being negative to Heroic Games Launcher, but to the Epic Store itself.

I got that... Linux users don't like epic games because they do not support our platform. I also prefer to use steam, but it's great to have a such well made alternative to epic. Even if it's not official, it can show them what linux comunnities are capable off, also show then there's a demmand here. Now, putting myself in the developper shoes, it's very disappointing to look at comments and see no positivity or excitment towards your project, only hate.

Really nice interface ! I think we really need this kind of software on Linux, it's trying to make Legendary (CLI) a very good look and easy to use interface. If you look at the github Planned features, it also plan to integrate other stores in the future. It could become the GOG Galaxy 2.0 for Linux that GOG will never make. Amazing job Flavioislima.

The response to this post is one of the things that makes me sad in linux communities in genereal... People like to spread negativity for free in opensource projects, the developper is spending his own time, skills and passion making it, this kind of negativity (even childish) response will affect his motivation.

Keep up Flavioislima !

Manjaro Linux 20.2 'Nibia' is out now

Lots of changes in this release. I personaly like the new plymouth theme when the system is booting, also the new welcome screen very similar to fedora is a very welcome feature. What i really like in manjaro is the layout changer in the gnome release, i really think is a cool feature that needs more marketing.

Collabora put up their patches for Linux Kernel work to help Windows games on Linux

Quoting: benjamimgoisLooks like it's compatible, but it also looks like you're basically compiling a new kernel whenever a new release comes out. Since I know next-to-nothing about kernels, I think I'll stick to pre-packaged .deb files from either mainline or Liquonix, unless there are other options out there.

Also, doesn't compiling a kernel take hours?? Maybe I'm missing something that install script just updates your apt cache, but that's not how it's presented, and they go on to talk about having to manage "custom compiled kernels". I'd prefer something that merges into the Mint kernel management tool, like mainline does.
I've never used it on Ubuntu or mint. I agree that have to manualy compile a kernel every week is a no go for me. On Manjaro i just use the Chaotic-AUR [External Link], they basically compile the source code of every app hourly and just send me the updated package on pamac.

I advocate for some years that a rolling kernel is better model for desktop usage, speacially if you are into gaming. For servers and corporate enviroments i still prefer to be in a LTS release with long support kernels.

Quoting: scaineAnyone know of any other reliable, solid options for kernel upgrades, particularly on an Ubuntu-based distro?
I use to recomend the custom kernels from TKG, the man and mind behind proton-tkg (that represents the major part of proton-GE). TKG has custom version for all different kinds of CPUs and diferent governors. TKG kernels use to be Arch only but i think it's compatible with ubuntu based distros now.

Direct3D 12 to Vulkan layer vkd3d-proton has a 2.0 release

Quoting: scaineIs this something we the average user should attempt to get running? Or is it more of a behind-the-scenes report on what's probably going to be baked into the next version of Proton (or ProtonGE)?
Yes, you can just extract the .dll files inside your proton folder

~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton xx/dist/lib/wine/vkd3d-proton

and you'll already be using the newer vkd3d-proton.

Quoting: SpirimintDoes anybody know if vkBasalt got also activated in Steam with the launch option MANGOHUD=1 ?
For vkbasalt you need ENABLE_VKBASALT=1. Or you can enable Mangohud and Vkbasalt globally on goverlay.
but when i enable it globally will it only start with MANGOHUD=1 or all the time?
When you enable vkbasalt globally it will simply add a line ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 in your .profile file inside your home folder. So after a system restart every vulkan application will have vkbasalt enabled. The same thing happens to Mangohud = 1, they do not depend on each other. I noticed some cases (in manjaro kde for example) that the .bash_profile file creates problems with the global_enable. Just renaming it to .bash_profile.bak solved the problem, but i don't know if it can create problems in other parts of the system, it still needs more research.
Ah good to know. Its just because on goverlay i thought with the toggle button which is in default on "home" i can turn on and off vkbasalt ingame. Just to be sure its working correct, to see the difference without. But its not working. Also the settings for reshade don't get saved right now. Would like to see the difference with them :) After restart the active effects in goverlay are always empty.
I made a small video demonstrating how the reshade work. It's in portuguese but you can turn on the captions.

Also, i struggle to save the effects settings but couldn't figure it out. Might come back to it in the future.
