This seems like a good place to ask. Has anyone had any luck getting Crimson Skies or Interstate '76 to run through Heroic? I've been trying for a while and I haven't had any success.

Seconded. I gave up on Ubuntu though. I'm currently using Gnome with the Unite extension on Arch, a combination I've come to refer to as "Baby's First Chainsaw".

Nvidia card here but I was able to get it to work by going into ~/.steam/steam/config/steamvr.vrsettings and setting "disableAsync" : true, under the "steam.app.858260" section.

Also, running the black screen fix beta and using proton experimental branch.
