Valve detail their plans to combat Steam Deck OLED scalpers

I don't know if Kogan are considered scalpers, but I've just bought a Steam Deck OLED from them because I'm not confident there's going to be an official release in Australia.. Hopefully Kogan can get stock and it arrives soon!

Valve puts the Steam Deck and Dock on sale again, get up to 20% off

Is there any word or indication about when it's coming to new regions? Are they even considering bringing it to Australia? 😓

I remember thinking "as soon as they get through this pre-order queue it'll all open up!".. seems like forever since they've been out of that and still no word.

Quoting: starpolloI'm loving the game so far, I'm about 40 hours in.. but the constant crashes are getting unbearable :/

I haven't seen anyone else on Linux mention these kind of frequent crashes, if anyone has any advice for me I'd very much appreciate it ^^'
Are you using the Vulkan option? I was getting a few crashes (not so often) when using Vulkan. Switching to DX11 stopped it from crashing completely for me. From what I've read, that's a problem on Windows too as their Vulkan implementation is incomplete and buggy.
Aah yeah I'd heard that as well, I've been using DX11 the whole time, I tried switching to Vulkan to see if it'd be better but the game wouldn't launch at all (just got a black screen).

So strange to hear about so many people having no issues, where I'm struggling with all these crashes 😅
Aah just to give an update (in case anyone comes and reads about my struggles and wants to know what happened), I ended upgrading my GPU from a Nvidia GTX 1080, to an AMD RX 6750 XT, and I was able to play BG3 for hours with no crashes!

Not to throw shade on the 1080 though, it was a great card, but I'd had it a while and I assume it was just the hardware dying.. either that or some issue with the drivers on my install, but either way, I'm playing with no issues now, and I can finally use Open Source GPU drivers!

I'm loving the game so far, I'm about 40 hours in.. but the constant crashes are getting unbearable :/

It'll happen when I'm getting into dialogue, in the middle of combat, or just walking around.. the game just freezes, audio still playing, and then closes.

Sometimes I can go a few hours without it happening, and sometimes it'll happen within a few minutes of gameplay, but generally I'm crashing and restarting the game every 15 minutes or so (very frustrating for my girlfriend who I'm playing in co-op with, who's having no crashes on Windows).

I feel like I've tried everything, switching between Proton Hotfix and Experimental, setting all graphics to low, switching from Nvidia driver 535 to 525, skipping the launcher, turning off steam overlay.. regardless of what I do though, the crashes are the same.

A genre is born: Horde games

Quoting: sprocketWhat specifically separates Horde Games from the more traditional Twin Stick Shooter?
Hmm, I kind of thought the "passive aiming" in Vampire Survivors was a critical part of this new genre.. which would kind of disqualify any games with twin stick aiming (like 20 Minutes to Dawn).. or full 3D aiming like Risk of Rain 2 🤔

I don't know if that's enough to call it a whole different genre though, but yeah I think that makes them distinct.
