Quoting: KimyrielleBut hey, that's just what should be done. I have ZERO faith in any lawmakers on the planet to introduce "business unfriendly" legislation, unless people start dying left and left. And that won't be the case here, so...
Maybe your are this synical because you don't live in the EU, but in the recent years multiple laws have passed to improve the environment, consumer health and animal welbeing, to name a few. And these laws were definitely not friendly for (local) businesess. You should really look into it, I hope it makes you a more positive person :)

Mounts of Mayhem released for Minecraft with new mobs, weapons and more

I am used to playing Minecraft via the Prism Launcher (because I am on Linux obv). But I recently had "the pleasure" to experience the default Windows 11 Minecraft Launcher. And.. it's horrible. They really want you to buy these texture packs, rent servers, and buy other games. Everything screams for attention. A real master class on how not to do UI/UX.

An excellent example of:
On Windows they want to control you. On Linux you are in control.

It's so weird that Linux users have the better Minecraft experience.

Here's the top 50 most played games on Steam Deck for August 2025 - with Hollow Knight the champion

Halo:MC remains in the list. I hope some day the fix the issue that Steam Deck (Linux?) can't play co-op with windows.

They did add a special error message to the game, which specifically mentioned the Steam Deck. So, they did that instead of fixing it.

JetBrains now a Platinum sponsor of Godot Engine

@williamjmc, JetBrains Rider already supports Godot. It detects automatically that it's a Godot project and shows the appropiate debugging buttons in the IDE (with the actual Godot icon). But only for the .NET version (which I use), because Rider is for C# only.

I actually think they see Rider being used with Godot a lot and that made them support the Godot project.

Does anybody happen to know which 'Ryzen AI' hardware sould work with Steam OS, if at all? Or maybe some way to figure out which hardware should and should not work with Steam OS?

Valve's new branding guidelines hint at Steam Deck's SteamOS for more devices

Quoting: Leahi84Do you think SteamOS would ever be a viable desktop distro?
Yes, I would think so. I have been using the SteamDeck as my main device for hobby projects (still in an exploring/testing phase, but enjoying it so far)

About it being immutable: I had to make it mutable to install .NET. But this is not something most people would need to do (Rider has a blog on how to install their IDE and .NET on SteamDeck). For all other stuff I had zero issues: attaching all kinds of controllers and other hardware, using Discord, Aseprite, MagicaVoxel (which has no Linux build), etc. No problems.

Personally I would like a laptop with SteamOS. With all the performance/battery options the OS gives you. And a very impressive sleep mode that even works for games (and Windows can't do).
