Free and open source flight sim 'FlightGear' has a brand new release
9 Nov 2020 at 5:24 pm UTC

On Manjaro, i installed it from the manager (building from AUR, it seems).

It took a while, like 15-20 minutes, and manager says all good.
So i suppose the data are DL and somewhere on my PC.

When i go to game/FlightGear, it says the folder doesn’t appear to be a valid location /usr/share/flightgear/data and i need to download a zip file.

Should i ? Where are the Gigaoctets lost ?

Steampunk grid-based dungeon-crawler Vaporum: Lockdown is out for Linux now

I played a little as a got a key,

First-person real-time combat
I really can’t truelly enjoy real time GRID BASE crawler, it makes every single combat awkward, and traps boring : find the rhythm, die until you do, go to next. I dislike "dancing combat", a lot.

That said, the background is nice, effects, sounds... General gameplay is fine too. Just this real time, quite killing the joy out of me. I’ll push forward a little more and see if i managed to set my mind to the pace, as other aspects of the game "fit" with my tastes.

I tried it a little.

With all settings set to low, it’s very slow/sluggish, maps take a while to load, it seems i can’t rebind keyboard yet so on non-qewrty i can only suffer and move with arrow.

Curious to see what is possible to do, but my first steps are not overly positive.

Quoting: GuestNo issues here (openSUSE Tumbleweed). I used the updater.
Ah, good to know then. I’m on Manjaro.

You do the same, right ? I don’t miss a step ?

- download,
- run the updater,
- inside the launcher, click the arrow to DL the files,
- inside the launcher, click the next arrow to launch the game
- here i have the error.

(i also tried to change directory)

And from the folder via the zip file, chmod +x daemon and ./daemon, to launch the game ?

Crashed with signal 11: Segmentation fault

Tried with auto-updater and universal zip, same.

I try it from time to time, since it was in alpha/beta (i had a full premium account for a few months at release).
The camera zoom level, the zone system, make it a "can’t play anymore" for me.

It’s way too divided or split to feel like an open world sand box.
Want X resource ? Must go to X zone, where you will find 2 or 3 types of specific stuff.
Want Y ? Change zone. It’s too linear.

Also the GUI is terrible, and i hate since day 1 the skill tree/wheel.

I wanted to like this game, i tried, several times, but i’m not. At all.

Manjaro Linux 20.1 'Mikah' is out now with a theme refresh

Since i’ve switched from Ubunta/Mint to Manjaro about 3 or 4 years ago, my Linux experience is better.
Less issues, more games running, but it may simply be because all main distro are getting better with time.
Anyway, i like Manjaro and i don’t see myself changing anytime soon.
