Build a colony on a hostile alien world, today Maia is finally released

I've been following the game for several years now, refunded several times even...

I kept it the last time.

My main grips with the game are the AI as Liam explained, but mainly the build system, i find it really not intuitive at all.

I didn't play the last few updates, maybe it feels better, but it's a game i want to like, but didn't, until now.

Playing it since 2014 from time to time (thee was a community Linux build before it was officially supported).

It's one of the few MMOG that truely think the player is not totally stupid.

Also, i'm playing a spider. And a bat.

The main issue is not really the outdated engine, but the arts, shapes, colors, all very uninspired sadly. Shame because the gameplay itself is great.

Good news, they intend to improve the visual with time, as they already did a few times.

Anyway, it's a MMOG you should play at least a few days to understand how it's clever and more than a monster bashing game.

I'm following this star-gem since 2011. It's not getting old at all, amazing.

I love these games, but they have some common issues : Rimworld, and Dwarf Fortress, mainly.

Years on development, huge community, it's hard to do "better" or at least good or different enough to grab attention. They may become as deep, as rich, as polished, as good, as etc. But they need time, and they tend too often to stop being developed before reaching the "fun" point.

Even large challengers, like Gnomoria, wasted potential, releasing the game as "done" while it was a surprise for most, expecting at least several more months of content and polish.

I'm curious to see where this one will go !

I own it, and it's broken for me. At launch, a kind of black screen with lot of statics, no music, no menu, and the window cannot be resized.

At the end, i wonder, who between Disney and Microsoft will by the other one ?

I'd like to prepare, should i wear squares or circles, with my forced smile ?

Gaming on Linux (not this website, the act of gaming...) is a "small issue" for me, the big one being that more and more giants are eating the smaller people.

GOG and Steam are both running a Polish celebration sale

So many trash games ! But also some nice ones to catch.

I'd highly recommand Age of Fear, the 2 and 3, but not the 1. Why ? 2 and 3 share the same engine and map, but 1 is getting a remake soon to be aligned with the others. Basically, they are all the "same game", but with each time two campaign.

So, AoF1 is Undeads and Humans, AoF2 is Demons and Greenskins, AoF3 is Dwarves and Dryads. So just pick the one you like more based on the playable factions.

I did a full dwarves campaign (in french) and now i'm testing AoF1GOLD (not avalaible to public yet), doing the Humans campaign.
In english, Cornish did and still does full campaign too. He started Humans a few days ago, so we are doing the same but differently.

The guy behind the games is very dedicated, offers great support, and works fast when fixing reported bug (couple of days top).

It's a shame many players won't even look at Age of Fear because of its appearance.
