I really like it too, and i share your soft spot for it. The previous controls were good for me, just need one hour to learn how to, but it's nice they opened up the options for troubled players.

I confess i already bought it day one, and it plays well on PlayOnLinux, but i'm glad it's coming to Linux.

Try removing libasound.so(.2) from the 64 bit libraries in your steamruntime. I got it down to libasound on arch.That works !
look in ~/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/
will that affect other games?Same question
