It’s nice this game exists i guess, but it’s trying too much to be a "open Minecraft", IMO.
I much prefer Vintage Story approach, being a deep unique game by itself, with only some distant links to it’s cousin.

I played it first when it was a hidden weird stuff from Whales, yeaaaaaars ago.
Since then, i played it i think at least a few times every year with the unstable branch, and it’s so full of everything sometime you may think it’s too much, but it’s simply not too much, only too full of possibilities..
Playing even great games like Project Zomboids now is feeling... empty ? A few months ago, i was walking around in Zomboid, trying to find again the greatness i felt with the first alpha i played years ago (with the wife dying upstairs and the bandit coming), and i could NOT grab a rock or a stick on the ground, haaaaaaaa ! Heresy !!!
However, i don’t like the mony from the Steam version is going into the pocket on one guy. Sure he is working a lot, and taking on its shoulders the Steam weight, but CDDA is a "open large team" project, and taking money from it, for me, it feels off. At the same time, i don’t see how any system could reward fairly all the people doing "something" for CDDA to be alive.

I think the sales are pretty bad, compared to what it was. My wishlist is more than 500 items, and i’m close to 24000 "discovered games". Only a few are 50% price, many 30%, and a great amount are 10%. I remember sales being rarer, but 75 to 95%. Not sure about the devs cut etc, but as a egoist consumer point of view, it certainly is worst. Now every few weeks or months, prices are cut "a little".
If i had a Steam Deck, i would not know what to play. I almost never play with a pad, and last time i played console, it was on the very first Nintendo DS, some Mario games and something with brain training stuff, i think. Maybe i would play 2D Fighting games however ? I like quite complex games with plenty of buttons to click... Also when i play, i often stop for a few minutes, check emails, write notes, look at some news, etc. It feels it would be very unconfortable to do so on a Deck.

A new Civilization game is in development and XCOM designer leaves Firaxis

I’ve lost interest in Civ games long ago. Civ4 i think ? I play a huge amount of Civ1+2 back in time too... I’d much prefer a new IP, based on no licencing at all, a fully new universe.
As for the Firaxis XCOM games, i don’t care, i consider OpenXCOM (+mods like XFiles) and Xenonauts (+ mods like XDivision) vastely superior, complex and entertaining. Just the "Time Units" vs "move and shot" kills me in so many "modern games".

OBS Studio 29.0.1 rolls out with many bug fixes

Something is broken, not sure what, since last big update on Manjaro about 10 days ago, i cannot use OBS (not starting at all), and a few other things too, like VLC. Very annoying, i "need" OBS several times per week. I switched from VLC to MPV and it’s working fine, but it’s not a true solution.
It seems i’m not the only one : https://forum.manjaro.org/t/obs-studio-not-working-after-last-update/132445/1 [External Link]
Nothing i’ve read or done so far have fixed anything.

I played a lot of the very first Trackmania, before it was a success, with PowerUp it was a real blast. Then i played almost all Trackmania games, but i could never find the same... spirit ? It went from fun and ideas, to competition and rewards. Sunrise was great too actually.
Dwarf Fortress too retro? Songs of Syx is worth looking at with another big Beta update

I love Songs of Syx, really nice colony sim with very large scale.
If you want the z-levels aspect of Dwarf Fortress, have a look at Odd Realm. A bit short on pure content and world cohesion, but still really neat game to build "towers" and "caves", and it’s growing well with an active and open dev.

I have an eye on this one since... years ? Not sure.
If it’s not completely broken because of its ambition, it could be crazily great.
