Quoting: iiariNot using VR, can I ask a stupid question? Will this system allow you to use VR for existing titles out there (including Proton?), or only for games written specifically for this system?Fully compatible with older VR games.

Quoting: liamdaweComplete package: 1079,--€Quoting: gurvHey Liam, why no € prices in the article?Since Steam only allows me to view prices in my local currency, I rely on others giving me the other prices. I usually use SteamDB to find them but I couldn't find the items listed there yet.

Quoting: gomeraIt would be great if the controllers were compatible with HTC Vive, I wouldn't mind spending $280 for that lvl of hand tracking.Ehm... they are. That's the whole point of SteamVR. You can upgrade what you want. I'll get the Index Controllers now and consider getting the HMD later.

Quoting: DerpFoxI guess we have now the proof Valve have completely gone insane and Artifact wasn't a good lesson. It's a better HMD set than the Vive Pro, which HTC sells for 1399€.
1000€? Seriously? What are they thinking?
Good spec or not this is way over priced for the product to make it to the end of the year. Yet again an other Valve project that will follow the way of the Dodo.
The full pack should have been at 500€ MAXIMUM to be interesting. And at that price it would still have been really expensive. And a good price would have been 300€.
I hope for 1000€ all the Valve VR games and some other will come for free with it.
All these years and manpower wasted for nothing what a shame.

Quoting: WorMzyBeat Saber won't go away.Quoting: Liamthe entire kit will go for £919Yeah, no thanks. I still remain unconvinced that this VR hype is anything more than a passing fad, I'm certainly not willing to splash that sort of cash on dedicated hardware to play VR games.

Quoting: ArdjeI don't know where it is build. Doesn't really matter. The Steam Controller as well as the Steam Link were shipped from the Netherlands when ordered from the Netherlands.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCgnWqoP4MM [External Link]
So there is not extra tax.

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoBut what does that have to do with licensing this out to third party manufactures? Who does this? Apple produces their own iPhones.Quoting: kuhpunktMaybe if you live in the USA or another country with an strong currency...Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoWhy? Seems to work fine for the Steam Controller.Quoting: kuhpunktIf Valve don't licence their hardware to third party manufacturers from around the world, it will be a complete commercial failure... It seems that nobody learned nothing from the VIDEOCASSETTE war.Quoting: devnullNext question is shipping from where. I don't know of any distributor with stock yet. From the USA. They build that stuff in their own factory.
But for the rest of the world, specially countries like Argentina, is impossible...
You won't find an Steam controller at retail stores...And if you do, it will be more expensive than an Xbox controller.
Here in Argentina, you will find an Steam controller for about 100 and 150 U$D at digital store Mercadolibre..
meanwhile, an Xbox 360 wireless is about 70USD.
I repeat. If they don't learn from the mistakes of the past, they will do it again...
