Valve may be working on a new kind of Steam Machine

Quoting: kuhpunktI don't see how this makes any sense...

A Steam Deck 2, but plugged in? It looks like it's a PC with a new AMD APU. What does that have to do with the Steam Deck being released in Australia?
Basically, assuming this Steam Machine 2 has nothing to do with VR, its better performance would essentially make the Steam Deck redundant, which would be a shame since it just released in Australia.
Why would it make a Steam Deck redundant?! It wouldn't. It would be a powerful stationary device. The point of a Steam Deck is having a mobile device.

Quoting: PyreticSee, there's a lot of conflicting reports on what this 'Steam Machine' could be. Either it's essentially a Steam Deck 2 but plugged in, or it's a VR box that streams wirelessly to a headset.

Both are concerning.

Steam Deck 2 releasing now would be weird, since Steam Deck 1 just got released in Australia, and it has only been 2 years since its release everywhere else.

The "problem" remains a bit that there isn't that much of an incentive to get a new Steam Machine. I just upgraded my PC a few weeks ago and of course I don't represent everybody... but still.

If it's decently priced [maybe like ~$500], it could be a good entry point for new PC players. Or as an additional one for the living room...

Wishing them a lot of success regardless.

Quoting: chickenb00I pass: the trackpads do not have prime real estate where your thumbs will naturally rest on the controller.
Why do you rest your fingers anywhere? I have mine on the sticks or the buttons the whole time.

Steam Controller 2 is apparently a thing and being 'tooled for a mass production' plus a new VR controller

What makes me truly curious on the Steam Controller 2 is just — why? The original was done along with the Steam Machines and Steam Link. While we do have the Steam Deck now, it has been out for years already , and Steam Input works great with tons of different controllers, so why would Valve be again making their own?
I'd say because there is no controller on the market that has the same inputs as the Steam Deck and people like that a lot.

And then they did another Singleplayer game without hats, lol.

Portal 2 project lead wants Valve to return to single-player games

Quoting: satorideponI remember Gabe (or someone other from Valve) said that they were disappointed in Portal 2 sales especially after looking at how Steam was already making them much more money than any of their single player games. TF2 hats and Steam made Valve realize that you can make much more money from services, so they focused on that
I'd like to see a quote/source for that.
