The former Paradox Interactive CEO thinks "platform holders" 30% cut is "outrageous"

not only it has huge expenses, but have anyone ever stop and actually think that steam is a service to provide every game, for ever and ever, anytime you need it? in 10 years they will still need to deliver the 60gb game to the one in need to download it. that's the deal you make as a buyer when you buy games on steam, and even if no one can be sure for this to happen, that's the business in which valve is in and for to guarantee it you need a steady revenue coming only from the sales, you can't and shouldn't rely on the CURRENT ones, but you need a SOLID business, capable of sustaining itself for the time being. That's the same reason why Google is a so much believable player in the gaming business even if they are stupidly new to it: it's gaming branch it's already worth more, in stock value, than the whole NVIDIA. The capability to LAST in time is the majour SERVICE to the users they can provide. The Epic Store revenue cut wouldn't make it last a second beyond this stage of NEW and UPCOMING games. Epic is only a joke and a direct attack to consumers by big producers who only try to maximize profit.

I think that Publishers and developers are most of the time greedy bastards that steamroll soul-less games only for money. Even at paradox whose games i usually like a lot, they have the absolute worst dlc politic. The point here is that even reviewers and gaming sites giving a say to publishers in the matters is a mistake, for a very simple reason. Steam is not a service to publishers, it is a mean, while Steam is not a mean to gamers, it is a service. Since Valve is a service to gamers, and since gamers are free to choose where to buy games, it's all fine.

What's wrong with epic is not that they provide competition, but it is that as someone with the knowledge has pointed out, there is all evidence they are dealing with a cut that puts them in red, only for to damage steam. And THAT is unfair. dealing a % that is not sustainable to directly damage a competitor that delivers a set of services to players, it's like directly undermining those services. They are not the industry saviours, they are the exact opposite.

Great performance, great job Feral!!!!!!!!
TBH, that does not sound that performant. Les than 60 fps with GTX 1080, or do you have a weak CPU?
2560x1440 resolution. not 1080p. the bench shown on the article state a 980ti doing 42 fps on a 1080p resolution. on 1080p resolution with a gtx 1080 i do average 52\54fps.

By 2560x1440 resolution and ULTRA settings, there are benchmarks around showing same gpu doing about 45 fps average. Now, mind that most people doing benchmarks in windows (and not) will oc their gpu, also disable and tweak settings on their nvidia control panel. I did nothing of this, i just plugged it and played it. These are pretty decent numbers, i think between windows and linux you loose 5 frames, being about 11% of framerate, which is not bad at all.

On Steam at least, no installer per se. Just like installing any other Steam title.
On store it is still showing only windows support...
I suppose they aren't making it visible in the store during the beta.
i confirm is only not shown. I have downloaded and installed the game, which is running with no problems at all. On windows runs around 80ish fps, on linux 65\70ish. It's performing good. I am running the game with good performance on a 1080 gtx 16gb ram ryzen cpu, max settings and fxaax4. Good steady fps, no appearent bug that is not present on windows version too. Very happy with performance. (Not shure if i am liking the game, though...)

ATOM RPG to get a much improved English translation, modding support and tons of new features

I felt lured into buying this game by the good reviews that it spawned, but at the current state is barely playable with little to no content, a few incredibly frustrating features that mimic fallaut in the wrong places. Game is a grind fest of uninspired approximation. I had lost interest in it after only a few hours in game, after realizing the game was incredibly streamlined and basically impossible to play other than with one very specific character build. No Role-play, no meaningful interactions, no interesting story here. Also the game is set on rails even if technically "free-roaming".
So i take this news as good news, because, maybe, the mods could make this game worth playing, as per now it is not.
