I would never play with the joycons outside of split screen fun with friends. Also I dont own either of the two devices, although I play to buy a "pro/2.0" switch at some point, just for Breath of the Wild.

Its double the weight of the switch, at least to the quick google search I did. So I am not sure where your arguments are. I even said "mobile gaming".
But I get the feeling this forum is not accustomed to different opinions on anything...

Oh so you dont need up to date packages to properly game on linux. I see. No clue where this hate stems from but its kind of ridiculous.
To each his own I guess.

Quoting: wvstolzingI dont understand, where is this coming from? Neither the title nor the article says anything about that? Title explicitly says best linux distribution for gaming.Quoting: samurroThe use case in question is 'looking to move one's everyday stuff, including gaming, over to linux as a non-enthusiast, as someone not particularly keen to 'look under the hud' occasionally'.Quoting: wvstolzingCurious, whats wrong with Arch-based distros for home users?Quoting: samurroThe obvious answer is Arch. Not even joking. If you are pleb like me, go with Manjaro. But everything apart from Arch for gaming is not "best".Valve agreed that it was the best for them to base their own distro on, not the best to use at home as regular users.
Valve agrees.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyWell this is outdated knowlede by years. There are tons of easy to install/maintain arch-based distros out there.Quoting: samurroMost of the time when I see Arch's boosters talk about Arch, they say it's hard work to install but by the time you manage it you understand your system far better and have more fine-grained control over it.Quoting: wvstolzingCurious, whats wrong with Arch-based distros for home users?Quoting: samurroThe obvious answer is Arch. IMO exactly that disqualifies it for the average home user. It's a good thing to exist, for people who want to understand their system better. But most people don't, they want easy and user friendly and just working.

Also Steam Deck seems to be bit heavy for weak nerd arms and mobile gaming?

Quoting: BotonoskiI already bought one, but it would make a fantastic Christmas gift, I hope I ain't filtered from the drawing for already having used a Deck on my account. So far I heard comparisons between Switch and Steam Deck, and most of the people who bought both said: The Switch is more worth for its money.
You know, I think if Valve put actual marketing dollars behind the Deck, get flashy ads on TV and whatnot, it could absolutely be a smash hit. At first I was fairly certain it was going to be a niche thing like my RPi handheld, but with how cleanly it fits into my lifestyle this thing really got potential mass appeal, its versatility gives it potential appeal to everyone, even a coworker of mine who barely games is considering buying it instead of a new laptop. This could be the next step for console gaming, not the portability but the versatility, it's not enough for a console to just play games anymore, much like how at one point, it wasn't enough for phones to just make call.

Trouble in Solus Linux land as their Experience Lead quits

SerpentOS is interesting for me, because I think Solus did a good job some years ago. Also I think Budgie is one of the finest DEs in the Linux economy.
Also lately I have been reminded that using a non mainstream distro (in my case OpenSUSE Tumbleweed) comes with its drawbacks, which at some point, might not be worth it anymore.
