24 Jan 2025 at 2:45 pm UTC

went to look at reports as I had performance issues no later than last week, turns out that's also something people were experiencing before it just broke out of the blue

Epic Games update the Unreal Tournament website linking to the free downloads from OldUnreal

what epic has done to unreal games is disheartening, had a blast like all nerds my age on ut2k4, but never manage to get as much fun on ut3, now about the joke that is the "ut" reboot which was secretly dusted off and put on the shoulders of the community to make everything, that in favour of paragon which got dropped as well, in turn in favour of fortnite. I get it, alright, it's hard making both a fully fledge top notch engine and games, sure, I get it, but you can't just tell people you love linux and promise the moon and leave them hanging in the water to end up insulting them few years later, this is not how this should work
in the other words, thanks to the community for the free efforts, they deserve it, actually they deserve more, respect first of

I'll keep waiting for their competitors to figure out server side anti-cheat, make peace with linux user base and cook the next best fps mechanics, epic has forever lost me

EA / Respawn now block Apex Legends from running on Linux and Steam Deck

I love Respawn Entertainment for everything they've made.
But game developers still pushing for ring-0 malware is outrageous, just fucking release your cash machine on consoles only and just get the fuck off the market if you can't make your multiplayer only game reliable, ffs

Again, thanks to everyone who made this possible, this means the world to so many of us.
A few porting studios died along the way but the end goal has pretty much always been multi platform game dev, and wine/proton et al. sure is making linux market more enticing.
