Quoting: Xpanderalso good question would be What people use for gaming? Laptop or Desktop
and maybe a question about monitor count? ..but it might make it too bloat :)
Not sure about multi-monitor because (so I've heard) it's very hard to run well under Linux and not many games support it.

But Laptop vs Desktop is a good one! I'll do that next time as a unique question :)
its not really hard when it comes to running game on 1 monitor and having other monitors for different things.. but having game over 2-3 of those that can be trouble with some games indeed

Quoting: mattyy1hpSorry for this stupid question but I need to ask  As a Debian user should I select "Debian-based" or "other" ? I was really confused so I selected "other" because Debian is not based on Debian.
yeah i had same with arch.. and arch-based

it should be
-arch, arch-based
-debian, debian-based

etc

so it would be more clear to some.

anyway nice to see

and according to this survey there are more amd cpu users (which is nice to see) than steam hw survey reports.

i myself think that amd cpu is still the best on the 120-200€ price range when it comes to multitasking and multithreading performance...

Linux 3.10 64 bit 0.10% +0.02%
I wonder if this is Steam OS since it is running Linux 3.10?
no its not.. its arch and other distros that dont have LSB package installed by default

even if the kernels are newer they still report Linux 3.10

Steam Hardware Survey For October 2014, Linux Rises Again (UPDATED)

the survey is clearly wrong.
every time i start up steam in wine i get this survey...

and i have counted this... this year i have gotten the survey 6 times under wine steam and 1 time under linux native.

also whats worth to note.. 2 of those times under wine i had the survey right after i reinstalled steam, it didnt pop up before reinstall.. but right after i opened it after reinstall it asked for survey.

so my bet is that those who are distro hoppers are getting survey more. those under windows seem to get also more and we single linux distro users get it super rarely

Dead Island Zombie Game Now Available On Linux For Some (updated)

Quoting: dubigrasuTalking about editing out some "features"...
Disable that annoying motion blur in "varlist_blur_camera_motion.scr"
VarFloat("f_blur_camera_motion_factor", 0.0)
VarFloat("f_blur_camera_motion_near", 0.0)
VarFloat("f_blur_camera_motion_far", 0.0)
VarFloat("f_blur_camera_motion_max", 0.0)
blur is not that bad...but thanks for this..

i managed to hack bloom shaders ..and eventually even disabled it... but then multiplayer games started to mismatch version... so i have to live with this awful bloom :(

Virtual Programming lists Dead Island on their web page: http://www.vpltd.com [External Link]

While this might be just related to the Mac version, couldn't it just be they try hard to make an eON "port" less obvious?
yes...somehow dead island executable is 790,2MB...thats fishy imo.
my conspiracy theory is that the wrapper is hidden inside :D
