Apex Legends Ignite Update broke anti-cheat on Steam Deck / Linux

People are so fast to talk shit about it imo.
Games break on windows also with updates. Devs forget things, push wrong builds etc. It isn't the first time. taking the verified badge away just for a mistake is kinda weird imo. They are in progress of fixing it.. Taking long time though for a simple file being missing, but shit happens i guess.

They probably forgot it or maybe they switched to the new EOS-EAC which doesnt even require that file.

Here we go again i guess... made a backup of the .so file before game update, just in case

Discord for Linux gets Flathub Verified

Quoting: PhiladelphusHmm, might have to switch over if the Flatpak version actually auto-updates. I'm sick and tired of having to manually download the .deb and `sudo dpkg` it every time there's a version update. "Must be your lucky day, there's a new update!"…no, that's not what's going through my head, Discord.

You can just use the ~/.config/discord/settings.json modifications with
"SKIP_HOST_UPDATE": true
and keep using it until the repo has an updated version.

looks like the developers fixed it already, so people who play this game can try again:

First time hearing about this game even.
Hopefully the issue will get resolved, like the Apex Legends ones have been so far.
Haven't heard of this happening with any other EAC proton enabled games. Just those 2 now.

Lutris game manager v0.5.14 adds EA App integration, expanded Flatpak support

Quoting: hardpenguinHeroic does such as good job of managing even third-party games (with the automatic download of the cover art etc.), then I add those as non-Steam games directly from Heroic. And if any art is missing, I can easily add it with SteamGridDB SGDBoop app!

Nice. Lutris also gets the cover art automatically for 95% of cases. I usually install games manually there and if i give it the correct name it gets all the banners and stuff. I use the list view with icon and name though. Don't like the big banner stuff.

Only adding shortcuts to Steam when i need some game with steamcontroller use, but i rarely use controllers (just for some local coop couch gaming sometimes).

Lutris for older stuff and GoG stuff, that doesn't require additional launchers.
Steam for everything in steam
Heroic for the few Games that i have grabbed free from Epic. Rarely even checking this

Chilly survival-adventure Kona II: Brume is out now

Ohh neat. First game worked pretty much flawlessly for me on Linux back in the days. It had few performance drops in some areas from what i remember though, but overall was working well and i really liked the game.
Price is a bit steep for a kind of "walking simulator" though. Will wait for a sale before i grab it. Have pretty big backlog of games anyway.
Nice that they kept the native builds still around. Something different to all those UE4 copy-paste games also :)

Recent NVIDIA drivers are causing issues for Proton

Interesting. Haven't encountered this issue myself yet. Been happy with the latest 2 of the 535 drivers. Currently 535.98.
the older 535.54 had shader cache issues and some corruption in some vulkan and vkd3d-proton using games, but this has been fixed with the latest drivers.
Been super solid experience for me..but im on Ampere and i hear people have some issues on turing and below with cyberpunk hangs etc. I personally played cyberpunk 2077 (~65 hours) with zero issues.
