Bioshock Infinite Early Linux Port Report

FPS on average 80 , goes up to 250 and drops down to 45 in really crowded areas.
thats with all hihg/ultra 1920x1080
with everything low its pretty much constantly over 200 fps

solid work from VP i'd say.

system:
AMD FX 8320 @4.2ghz, 16GB DDR3 1866mhz, Asus 970 STRIX OC 346.47, Arch Linux 64bit, MATE desktop.

SSR doesnt like when game goes over 80 fps though.. its starting to drop frames for video output.
FramerateLOCK enabled from game SSR records fine but game has huge input lag :(

The GOL Nouveau Experiment

upgraded to 3.16? you on debian stable or something? 3.19 is current stable and 4.0 just around the corner.
my last experiments with nouveau were quite disastrous ... nothing really worked.. didn't had time to investigate much either..

but try Borderlands 2 or similar Triple A games as well if you testing it.. would be nice to see.

Metro Redux and Dying Light is probably out of question due to no gl4 support.

Why Are We Still Dual Booting?
12 March 2015 at 6:05 pm UTC

i dont have windows.. just linux. no dualboot
if there are few games that i absolutely have to play and are not available on linux i just wine them ..or if they dont work in wine i just dont play.. thats my philosophy... there are so many native games so i dont have to just set my mind to some game that doesnt work in wine or is windows exclusive.

that being said.. im not a hardcore gamer.

Dying Light Major Patch Released, Performance Finally Okay On Linux (UPDATED)
11 March 2015 at 10:28 am UTC

Quoting: vulturewhy do i think that all the people that got it working now just got over threshold of cpu bottlenecking to the next level?

especially the... no change on resolution or settings is suspicious and the fact that people with same cpus say same things while gpu seems to not play any special role or at least nowhere near as it should. these are most obvious signs when cpu is bottlenecked.

can anyone with problems check core utilization? usually in this case one core should be 100% non stop

i plan on buying it if i was correct, my cpu is more than good enough it seems. still, they better fix this

FX 8320 @ 4,3GHZ, overall CPU usage 50% from 100%.. if i check the cores, then none of the cores goes to 100% its all spread around... few cores top 70% at times.
GPU usage(970) is 40% max.. so clearly some issues with my CPU bottlnecking? ..

zero improvements for me

same old 18-25 FPS no matter if everything maxed or at lowest (except distance slider)
lowering resolution to720p doesnt make difference either

so i dont get why no perf improvements.. its basically same fps as i got with my 660TI

system: FX8320@4,3ghz, GTX 970, 16GB DDR3 1866mhz.

Torchlight II Now On Linux, Old News By A Day, But Here’s My Report

liam did you change graphics settings or all was default?
cause i maxed everything except bloom and i get dips down to 35 even in places.
mostly its around 50-60 fps though.

what i saw was that the damn game was using 1 core only..so that might be my problem..since AMD perf sucks in singlethread.. didnt test __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATION=1 yet.

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty Released On GOG & Steam, We Take A Look At The Linux Port

Quoting: sevencan the __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATION=1 %command% start option be used with every game?

pretty much yes.. some game do it by default also and some games use more cores so if you are limited with core number than that wont help in those cases.. unity 4.x engine games all benefit from this since they use only 1 core.. unity5.x is done a bit better
