Just finished it also, can agree almost fully with this review, well written and clear. Personally I hated the knot puzzle, I did understand it but .
If I place it next to BouT2 which also came out this year then I personally had more fun with BouT2, puzzle wise and just laughing here behind the screen.
Spoiler, click me
describing a knot and those weird looking clues, was pure luck in the end for me

Basicly valve gives the people who done all this as a hobby/fun/showcase the opportunity to earn money with it, which could be cool but that comes with responsibility and commitment. Mods are, especially in games like Skyrim, close to real programs which often not only depend on the main program but also on other mods. You as a (paid) modder can fix your stuff if there is an update but if another mod on which you depend does not get updated (paid or not) then what ? You can't update other people's paid mods and publish them, you can't take parts of their source and put it into yours which your getting paid for. You might be able to update or include an updated version of a free mod but still I can imagine that causing problems too.
Its a can of worms.....

Quoting: melkemindFar too often, mod developers say, "I'm busy with school now, so do whatever you want with this mod." Others just disappear without a word. Valve doesn't seem to have any accountability for them.As long as mods a free and a hobby its perfectly fine to do that. :)

Anyways back to the subject, I don't see how this is all good. Biggest issue is that mods are not made by the developer like DLC is, so when a new version of a game comes out a mod might no longer work but yet you paid for it. An even better example is how Techland even stopped all possible modding for a while. What if certain game servers requires you to have the following 20 mods installed to log on ?
I do agree that there are some brilliant mods around, and the people who made these often end up working in the industry thanks to that mod.
I know that Valve/Steam are slowly becoming like gods here and yes they did and do a lot for Linux but the other places that sell the real DRM free stuff are left out as you can be pretty sure copying/downloading a steam paid mod no longer will work.
If the 25% for modder en 75% for company is true then basicly its just another way for the company to make extra money over the back of modders without having to do or promise anything for it.

not sure how they can make the start more user friendly. It's not like windows where package A can install package B (mono in this case) without the user even knowing. root access to the package manager (apt or zypper or any other) is needed and the linux way is to tell the user and leave it at that.
