NVIDIA have released the big new Linux Beta driver 440.26 today

But it has been heartsinking to read about these severe Linux driver and stability issues. Meant I had to postpone buying a new computer. And for those who have done so recently and now have an unstable computer, it's bound to cause negative thoughts and regrets, which may affect sales both in the near and distant future.
Hopefully they solve these issues very soon.

Quoting: barottoFor some people yes, but you can't deny that Navi is the first really decent AMD architecture in far too many years. The same situation here (and thanks again for the information in the PSU fried thread). I used AMD many, many years ago (Radeon 8500, named as ATI back then), but have used Nvidia since. Not had any problems in truth, but it's been a breath of fresh air to have AMD back on the scene. Finally a kick up Intel's and Nvidia's arse. De facto monopoly is never a good situation for consumers.
Too bad the current Linux situation is far from ideal.
I've been using nvidia hardware for literally decades without any major problems. They have been generally good products for me in terms of stability, functionality and support, especially on Linux.
I switched to AMD for my current build to try and support the open source friendly company, and frankly I'm already regretting it.

This game caught my attention in the recent GOG sale. What do people think about it? Native Linux release, which is always great, but how does it play?
This seems to be the last article about the game, and I didn't find anything in the normal forum, so I'm posting here hoping for some more comments about it. It's cheap (and 30% off) so I may take my chance on it anyway, but please advice :)

Quoting: Liam DaweI'm perplexed by this as well, and have stated so many times. The longer GOG remains Galaxy-FREE for Linux, the better. I know Steam is pushed pretty hard around these parts, but I never want to use a client, which is the main reason I still buy from GOG (despite their many flaws). Plus games being DRM-FREE of course, another great boon for them.Quoting: CyrilIn the era of Epic Store, which doesn't support Linux, I must admit I am still somewhat surprised people actually *want* another client. At least for GOG, you can download direct from the site or use Lutris or a number of other open source download/update tools for it.Quoting: toorWell... I'll pass. After waiting for years, still no gog galaxy. My money will go to stores where they support linux more seriouslyGalaxy have macOs support and yet there are still missing macOS releases for certain games.
What do you think mac users are saying?
Like I already said, Galaxy it's not the holy grail. I seriously think even with Galaxy on Linux, we would still have missing Linux releases.
Double Fine Productions have delayed Psychonauts 2 until next year, all versions still planned

Quoting: ShmerlMS swallowed them. Will they still make Linux games in the future?Think we all know the answer to that :(

Congratulations on ten years, and many more (decades) to come!
Cool video. Although I feel for that girl who almost died to the nasty unexpected sofa attack :D
Imagine all the cool and inventive puns we'll get in the next decade :D <3

I have gotten back into RimWorld. Such a cool and relaxing game. Until your colony dies to an invasion of machines :D :O :'(
Tribal start, and we have just discovered electricity. An alien ship plumps down and we attack it with bows and sticks, and revolvers from raiders. Yay! (Somehow we survived)
Just back from a caravan trip to hand over 38 bowler hats for a big sack of silver. I bought two cows on the road. In the very same instant I get the message they are back on the map, another message about a raid also pops up. "Gee, I hope they don't end up in the same spot"
No guesses there, eh.
Try to calmly get them away as the raiders were of the "preparing first" type. Seems to work okay...?
Oh no! One of the raiders started punching one of my cows, and that triggered the whole lot. Soon both cows are down. One is bleeding out and another got blown up. One of my guys is down too. He had gut works (from the trip) and walked slowly, so wasn't able to lure around them quickly enough. He's bleeding out too. Thankfully it would take 10 hours, so I was able to deal with them first. And somehow he got back up and was able to walk into the colony. Strange.
Life on the rim is dangerous! :)
Poor cows, though. 820 silver investment that survived for perhaps 60 seconds on the main map. No milk. RIP.

Valve looking to drop support for Ubuntu 19.10 and up due to Canonical's 32bit decision (updated)

Mint Debian may be a solution too. Presumably the Mint team will put more effort into that side if Ubuntu-based versions get a shot to the face like this.

Quoting: BeamboomI'll not be surprised if Canonical backs out of this decision again, seeing the reception.Yep, that will be my "solution" if Mint 20+ will get perma-crocked due to this. I waited a long time to upgrade to 19.1, and would be fine sticking with that for a long while.
But either way, no one's forcing you to upgrade to 19.10. The practical difference between the versions are only smaller and smaller for each year.
I used to always upgrade back in the days for great benefits, but now I don't even care if I use 18.04 (@work) or 18.10 (@home), I've not even bothered upgrading to 19.04.
So there's really no reason for rushed decisions no matter what.

The RPG 'Wasteland 3' from inXile Entertainment has a new trailer from E3 and a new launch window

However, the main thing is how the actual game turns out of course, and if they release it on Linux. Hopefully they do, as it was crowd-funded before selling out to Microsoft. And if they don't, I hope there will be a movement to get refunds since they don't deliver the product they promised.
Overall it's sad to see the gaming industry moving in the direction it has for quite a few years, and apparently getting even worse as time passes. We're seeing signs of a duopoly appearing, or maybe a few more. And heaps of exclusives instead of people being able to buy the product from whichever store they prefer. Modern-day capitalism has more in common with the harsh forms of communism. Happens to industry after industry, and the consumers always suffer. Sad to see it happening to the gaming industry too. And with people usually cheering it on.

Quoting: nitroflowToo late for me since I backed it, but even this gameplay trailer they released two years ago looks and feels much better than the E3 trailer which is why I feel so strongly against it.True. Strange lip-syncing and mouth movements aside, that gives a better vibe than whatever they were aiming for with the E3 video.
