Sigh.

-Hi, I'd like to buy a hammer.
-Here you go.
-This is just a note
-Yes. But you can bring it to a store across town that we pretend to compete with and get your hammer there.
-Why would I come here then?
-Thanks. NEXT!!

I miss when Humble Bundle was worth paying attention to. Before they had a store (funnily enough), and before they became a subcontractor for shteam.

Spiritfarer, a cozy management game about dying announced and it's coming to Linux

Looks interesting.

However, it would have been mildly amusing if a game about dying was only released on Windows.

The RPG 'Wasteland 3' from inXile Entertainment has a new trailer from E3 and a new launch window

Quoting: nitroflowAm I the only one that absolutely hates the trailer to the point it's off putting?
Maybe not that strongly, but I didn't like it either. Had no idea this was meant to be Scotchmo (a character from Wasteland 2) until I read about it somewhere.

I liked Wasteland 2 so will keep my eyes on this and watch for news. Obviously it must come out on Linux to be viable for my money.

Overall I feel really sad about inXile and especially Obsidian being bought up by Microsoft. Means we can forget about Linux released in future games from them, and the quality of the games may suffer as well. Can also forget about DRM Free and GOG releases (for 5+ years). Very bad news that these quality developers that have a history of making great games in reality are no more.

The GOG 'Summer Sale Festival' is live with a ton of games discounted

Quoting: liamdaweApparently the publisher just isn't bothered.
Easy choice to make then --> I won't buy it.

(Sorry for all the consecutive posts, I'm reading through the thread)
Quoting: riusmaTo the Moon, the game was sitting in my library since December 2016 so I think it's more than time to have a look at it! Not bad so far (about 1 hour in it), sad story with an old console era vibe for the graphics and gameplay! :|
I kinda envy you. You're in for such an awesome game (although some will rudely call it a digital story or suchlike). Heartstrings may get pulled ;-)

Quoting: denyasisRimworld. The most recent update came out Thursday and it decreases load times drastically for games with mods. I went from 800 sec to 180 sec on my old laptop.

I just lost half my colonists in a raid, so it'll be interesting to see if I can rebuild before winter.
Cool. I got the email about a new update, but haven't downloaded and tried it out yet. It's a great game. The raids get a bit silly later on (and the blasted ships are a pain in the neck), but I like the early to mid game.

Working on the second straight playthrough of Witcher 3.

Don't really follow new games much. And once I really get into a game, I play that a lot over a prolonged period of time. Quality over quantity :)

The backlog is colossal, although I've been fairly restrictive about buying games on sale and whatnot. Maybe Linux will be able to still run these things in 40-50 years? :D

GOG are revamping GOG Galaxy, to help you manage multiple launchers and still no Linux support

Shrug. I avoid Steam like the plague partly because of their bloatware. I will never use Galaxy, whether they release it for Linux at some point in the very distant future or not.

Apparently I'm a dying breed, but I miss the old gog. Don't like that they are chasing after and replicating Steam in everything they do. Wouldn't be surprised if they dropped the DRM Free "principle" (LOL) at some point too. They've dropped everything else they once stood for and (claimed they) believed in.

In a sense Humble Bundle is even more sad. At least I still check out GOG and still buy games there from time to time. Definitely a case of "least bad". WTF happened to the gaming industry? :'(

Quoting: HamishJust in case anyone can find any value in it, here is my custom Arch install guide:

Tailored specifically for my use case of course. Still, it could give someone a rough idea. You should gain a proper understanding of what you are doing from the Arch Wiki as well of course.
That alone gave me a scare :dizzy: ...and underlines the "not easy" part. Think I'll stick to Mint :P

I honestly think it is easier to both install and use than Windows. Especially the abomination called Windows 10.

How representative are these numbers compared with the wider Linux community?

The reason I ask is that I'm surprised Linux Mint sits at below 10%. It has been my impression that this is one of the main distros, maybe the most popular by now, due to how easy it is to get into for beginners (like myself). Here, however, Arch has a big following. Maybe because the site is occupied by fairly advanced Linux users?
