What you think? I'm not from US, so i don't see into us legal system, but it can kill wine...
Yes, it's indeed worrying a bit. Can't actually say anything useful on topic, but thanks for pointing this out.

mind to elaborate?
O. K. I'll try.

What i meant is that Lutris gives you a lot of options to fine-tune your game and it's environment. It gives you an option to pick specific wine and DXVK version to run your game, restrict old games to use only one core, use pre-launch and post-exit scripts (O. K. never used this one, but still...), use some specific settings (like when I need my game to launch in windowed mode in specific resolution and mouse pointer to NOT be caged in this window). I mean, for some games you just need more options than picking a version of proton. :). Also, Lutris once helped me when I needed to specify an non-english non-UTF-8 codepage for a game and a few times - when I needed to apply non-official patches and modes for my game (via "run exe inside wine prefix" interaction).

Stuff like this. :).

Quoting: michaldybczakShould Lutris not automate install somehow? Where are those famous Lutris scripts?
Lutris is very helpful in some cases, but yes, it's not very intuitive at first.

To install a game in it you first need to search for it in the app (a button to the right from "Add Game" button, first button in the right column), then pick the game in search result, press "Install" and pick install script from the list.

In case of Diablo I wanted to recommend "GOG + DevilutionX Linux 64 bits" (forum ), but that's basicly what you did yourself, manually. :).

Crusader Kings III is quite a joy to learn, even if you're not particularly smart

...For now. Once Paradox releases it's first 10 DLC's, it wouldn't be anymore. :).

On the topic of CKII, it was hard to get in. Took me maybe 50 hours to get acquainted to the game (more or less). But in the end, CKII became my first game that hit 1000 hours on Steam. :).

Quoting: chimpyNot completely relevant to the article, but does anyone know how to install a non Steam DLC to a Steam Proton game? Specifically Mass Effect; Steam doesn't have any of the DLC available but they are available for free as executibles on the EA site. Tried to install by adding it like you'd add a non Steam game to Steam, but when it looks for where Mass Effect is installed it can't find it.
Hello.

It proved to be quite simple - you just need to replace MassEffect.exe (make backup copy) from SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Mass Effect/Binaries with your DLC executeble, renamed as MassEffect.exe. Then start the game from Steam. It will launch installation in the game wine prefix. Do it for both DLC, then replace MassEffect.exe back from backup.

Hope this helps.

Bought Stoneshard this weekend and played a bit. Looks like a good game so far, or at least would be after it leaves Early Access.

Also in the last month spend notable amount of time in:
-Neverwinter Nights 1 [External Link] - a classical crpg.
-Majesty Gold HD [External Link] - a real-time strategy "with indirect control".
-Civilization VI [External Link] - a famous turn-based strategy.
-Magic: The Gathering Arena [External Link] - em, a "digital collectible online card game", I think.
-King's Bounty: Crossworlds [External Link] - a tactical RPG, with HoMM-like battles (well, the first King's Bounty was a forerunner of first HoMM...).

Maybe it's like everything with Linux, once you try it and figure it out, you see it's not that hard.
Good luck with it, good motivation is one of the most important parts... :).

Until a new actual release build of Proton GE is out, yes.
Oh well, looks like we have to wait...

If you can do it - sure, it's the quickest way.

The alternative is to wait unknown time before (or if) they release a compiled version. They did it for the previous version (Proton-4.19-GE-1), but it vanished, and IDK if they are doing it for every release, or how much time does it take...
