Quoting: drenI love GOG because I can actually buy and own games, but they are still a corporation and corporate track records are pretty shitty these days.You don't ever own games, neither on GOG, Steam, Epic or physical disk. You only buy the licence to use them. GOGs offline installers might give you the illusion of ownership, but you can more or less achieve the same thing by backing up your Steam common folder.

On the Steam Deck I'm fighting my way through the Resident Evil Series right now: I have already played RE1 Remaster, RE2 and RE3 Remakes, RE4 (not the Remake) and RE5. Currently, I'm in the last campaign of RE6, and I also plan to play RE7 and RE8 after that.
On the PC I'm playing the Battlefront 2 campaign, which is surprisingly good. The EA app sucks though...
Arc Raiders is on my wishlist, and I think I will end up buying it after all. I'm really happy that the game does so well, mainly because (right now) it is playable on Linux. But as long as there is no rating from Valve or some kind of official statement regarding Linux compatibility, my wallet will remain closed.

@Eike
* You get a licence to use software, be it from Steam, GoG, your floppy disc box, or Linux.Thank you for taking the time to explain this over and over again!
* It is wrong to say "Steam is DRM". Steam offers a DRM system, and it offers DRM'd games as well as games without DRM. You can copy the latter games freely and use them wherever you want. (You might not be allowed to, but that's not what DRM is about.)

I heard this controller has no Rumble and inferior triggers, so I ended up buying the Gamesir Cyclone 2. Unfortunately it only comes with Windows software (which I don't need btw.), but the controller itself is nothing but amazing. It worked out of the box in Steam Input, detected as a PS4 Controller, and works like my old Dualshock 4, but much, much better. I didn't even have to change my existing controller layouts!
Really a great controller, if you ask me.

Quoting: Vortex_AcheronticI find it a bit odd that Steam Deck and Linux are not the same platform. Oh I see in Liams Screenshots that the German translation is just misleading. I don't know how some does translate "device" to "platform" ... But yeah it makes a lot more sense in English 😅Also interesting: I can now safely say that Bazzite (on PC, but in Game Mode) is detected as Steam Deck. :grin:

It's so good to see a developer taking the native Linux version of their game seriously. I really appreciate it!

Quoting: StalePopcornAs I'd like to not assume; would playing via Proton count as a Windows purchase, or does Steam recognize that a particular title is being played on Linux via Proton and report it as Linux? Thanks.As far as I know, Proton counts as a Linux purchase. However, if you don't play the game within the first two weeks after your purchase, it will be counted for the OS you bought it on. Except for purchases from the browser, that will always count for Windows.
