As far as I know, Proton counts as a Linux purchase. However, if you don't play the game within the first two weeks after your purchase, it will be counted for the OS you bought it on. Except for purchases from the browser, that will always count for Windows.

I think this was the first game I played on the Steam Deck, and still one of the best experiences so far. Great game, and it never dipped below 60 FPS on high settings... Source engine ftw! :smile:

I think FSR 2/3 needs to be support by the game, because it uses temporal data, which FSR 1 does not.

I had this CD Key issue recently in one of the Far Cry games. Turned out that the file "distribution.steam" was missing in the "bin" folder of the game. The file can be empty, so I created it and after that everything worked again.
Maybe the fix works for this game as well?

I really hope so, but I wouldn't bet on this. In the past, MS was very good in finding the sweet spot of what they can force down peoples throats without loosing to much of their user base. They even made people buy new hardware in order to run Windows 11.

I recently tried EndeavourOS and couldn't get native games to run, in particular Payday 2 and Metro Exodus. Playing these games with Proton worked fine however. I checked drivers, vulkan and a few other things, but no luck. Never found out what was missing. Back on Manjaro, native games where running out of the box...

As much as I prefer to play native, I do love the fact that I can always use Proton as a fallback when the native version doesn't work anymore or gets dropped.
