Quoting: pbYeah, I was about to point this mistake out too. But SteamPlay really was launched in 2010 IIRC, it was just Windows+Mac.Quoting: EhvisGood catch. There was this thing/icon called SteamPlay that marked games that are playable not only on Windows... but Linux only came in 2012010Ehmmmm.....
Steam adds MacOS support; we also launch Steam Play to support Linux users.32, and in 2015 they removed this thing/icon when they changed the Tux icon to SteamOS icon, because it all looked a bit too similar.
But to be frank, maybe there were some Linux versions of games even before the Steam client itself got ported? For example here [External Link] they write "In 2010, we announced Steam Play: a way for Steam users to access Windows, Mac and Linux versions of Steam games with a single purchase."...

Hades, some docked Halo... Not much time to play unfortunately.
I'm also contemplating an SSD upgrade, as current prices are relatively low.

I also noticed screenshots were indeed working, just without the notification. That one really left me dumbfounded. I am not sure if I want the notification, but some feedback like a sound or vibration would be nice.
I'm just left with the laggy on-screen keyboard, I guess :)
Edit: the article I'm thinking of could be this one [External Link] though I thought it had pictures too.

Quoting: MarlockActually, I went back to it, and found out it was due to half-rate shading. I remember reading a blog post from one of the mesa developers (was it Marek or Samuel?) detailing the heuristics for detecting text and not applying variable-rate shading to it, but I couldn't find it anymore. These games may be good examples to test with.Quoting: MayeulCOh, and is there any way to fix unreadable text in multiple games? Some of the text in Dyson sphere program (most text, including the main menu) or Halo MCC (just the in-game score and a few other) is affected. The text looks like it was upscaled from a very low resolution (like 4x4).if you're on desktop linux there is a chance this is happening due to lacking the exact fonts required by those games
in that case you can install ttf-mscorefonts-installer (do it via the terminal so you can accept the EULA)
https://itsfoss.com/install-microsoft-fonts-ubuntu/ [External Link]
this might also apply to the steam deck, but then the exact install instructions will be a bit different

I'm having two issues currently, one where the OSK is laggy when using the touchpads, and my second one is that screenshots don't seem to work anymore (steam+R1).
Oh, and is there any way to fix unreadable text in multiple games? Some of the text in Dyson sphere program (most text, including the main menu) or Halo MCC (just the in-game score and a few other) is affected. The text looks like it was upscaled from a very low resolution (like 4x4).

Quoting: constI'll admit I haven't played any wipEout, but Redout is pretty good, it's on steam and has a demo :)Quoting: CalinouThere's also the Phantom Edition [External Link], but it doesn't have native Linux support and source code isn't available. It apparently runs great in WINE though. All these games replicating the PS1 era wipeouts are sadly not for me.
Somehow, wipeout hd/fury for PS3 has become my wipeout of choice. Is any of the available clones close to that gameplay feel?

Quoting: EriI love the grey one so much but i don't like TKL keyboards  I want my numpad like others pointed here, I work with numbers and I can be very fast typing in a numpad, the TKL and small keyboard trend is not for me. And I don't want to use an extra USB port for a standalone numpad, I heard that before. On my ergodox, I just have a numpad layer activated by a button... The layout is the same on ortholinear keyboards, which I've also found to increase typing speed (and makes learning touch typing much easier). I can easily touch type on numpads and ortholinear keyboards, but never could do it effortlessly on "typewriter" staggered layouts, hence why I'm complaining about them, and will not consider any for a new keyboard!
It has a hot swap board, a full version would be an instabuy for me, but nope.

Typewriter layout and closed source firmware, I am not really interested, though the design is cute.

Now that's interesting. I have been booting my Steam Deck off a USB nvme drive for a while.
My takeaway is: the Steam Deck could really use a second USB port, even if the second couldn't do video output.
As for this one... The form factor makes and breaks it. It's the same size as the internal steam deck SSD, so more expensive and relatively hard to find, and you might as well upgrade the internal one. I'm glad the format is getting more common though, that will make finding spares easier.
I would prefer it to be metallic and hermetically sealed, personally. I can live with throttling, and don't need ludicrous speeds.
I'm also curious about the cable. Is this a male to female cable? I thought these were disallowed by the specification?
