'HOOK' is an extremely minimalistic but addictive puzzler that I wholeheartedly recommend

As a (student) electronics engineer, I must say that this picture looks both very familiar and very alien :P

I'll be sure to check it out one of these days!

By the way, does someone know if it is DRM-free on Steam?

Ashes of the Singularity looking at Vulkan in August, paves the way for Linux support

Quoting: sn0rlaxI've been desperately missing Sins of a Solar Empire since going Linux-only. I want this game on Linux so very badly. Stardock, please reward a loyal SOASE player.
Seconded.I actually post this in every Stardock-related post, but I wouldn't mind getting SoaSER as a wrapped port.
Meanwhile, I am looking forward to this one :)

The rhythmic and psychedelic platformer '140' receives a free but important update; it's also currently discounted

Yes, finished it!

(not the inverted levels, mind you :D)
The expansion is very nice, but quite hard. I should have slept instead ^^

Arch, AMD (R600) no problems here.

Quoting: ShmerlIt's available DRM-free in the Humble Store: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/distance [External Link]
This game looks very nice, but a bit expensive for what it is at its regular price, in my opinion. Do you know if the humble store will host some summer sales as well?

Black Mesa 'Xen' update delayed, screenshots looks beautiful

Quoting: GBeeThis has been sitting unplayed in my library since last year. I bought it as a show of support, but having played the original multiple times I wasn't really excited by the idea of playing all over again, even if it's had a facelift. Those Xen screenshots however could change my mind, they don't just look better they give Xen a whole lot more atmosphere.
Trust me, this isn't just your usual facelift-with-better-textures. They actually improved quite a lot on the original.

There's another bug I just remembered, though: vortigaunts couldn't aim properly on Linux, last time I played.
I am expecting them to put a lot more time on general polish and improving the multiplayer, once Xen is out of the door :)

Quoting: razing32So , will you be doing a playthrough on stream like HL2 ? :)
Last time I checked they still haven't fixed the bug I had where you're forced to do a command to skip a section due to a crash bug, so probably not until that's done.
If talking about the section with the helicopter blowing up, you can work around by moving the marines'corpes with a crowbar or grenades... Not perfect, but that's the only bug remaining I think... Or did they fix the shadows?

It's impressive to see what they are realizing with the ageing source engine :)
The textures look quite low-rez, though.

XCOM 2: War of the Chosen expansion announced, sounds very exciting
13 Jun 2017 at 2:50 pm UTC

Oh man, that makes me wish they made a shooter spin-off/sub game ^^

This would have quite some potential as a Halo/Left 4 Dead inspired game ;)

Now, I just need to finish XCOM 1 before getting into the second one...

Quoting: fcastilloI just got this game a couple of months ago but never played it because I couldn't change the monitor where it opened. It was annoying and ultimately unplayable. Hopefully this new edition will fix any remaining issues on linux.
What I usually do (using KDE) is to open the Steam overlay and alt-drag the game on the right screen. I posted it on the steam forums :)

Quoting: Pompesdesky
Quoting: DissCentThe last time I played this game I wasn't able to play with my friends because the Linux version was behind the Windows version. I don't think they care too much about us.
I'm playing with my Windows friends since January or so and it has been working like a charm. More than a 100 hours on record and really enjoying this game, it enabled me to stop booting into W7 to play Battlefield 4 with them ^^
There are however a few issues with updates: during the last game event, they did not update the version string of the Linux client, which meant no crossplay, even though the rest of the update was there... Someone wrote a mod to fix this, but I didn't bother.
The port isn't a priority for them, but it doesn't run bad otherwise :)

Weird, I have an empty page 2 for the comments. Oh, well.

I will likely pick this up when/if I upgrade my computer. It looks interesting, but I must admit that I haven't had a lot of time to play, lately.

@feral: Will we see a "feral hardware survey"? These seem to be all the rage nowadays :D. I could understand if you wanted to keep it in-house, though (but publishing it leads to better visualization tools, in general). 2nd question: do you usually update the launchers for already-released games with new features? I can't remember on the top of my head.
