Embark Studios announced work on a new anti-cheat system for THE FINALS, and thankfully they've also now said it will continue working on Linux / SteamOS.
THE FINALS has a repeating issue where major updates will break it in some way, with the latest update causing the game on Desktop Linux / Steam Deck to freeze a few minutes into a match.
Valve have released a new Proton Hotfix update which solves issues with both The Finals and Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced (offline play) on Linux / Steam Deck.
A reoccurring theme here with THE FINALS from Embark Studios is that it appears to break on Linux / Steam Deck each major upgrade, and it has happened again with the launch of Update 5.12.0.
Recent updates to THE FINALS ended up breaking it on Linux / Steam Deck, but Valve have pushed out a new update to Proton Hotfix to get it working again.
