Shift Happens is a co-op platformer in development built around the concept of shifting mass between two player characters, and it promises a "shiftload" of fun action and puzzles. Developer Klonk Games published a gameplay trailer for E3, where partner Deck13 Interactive presented the game to the public.
The "almost unique" core game mechanic is similar to that of Shiftlings, which was set to release for Linux before it was picked up for publishing by Activision under the Sierra brand. Judging by the trailer, Shift Happens appears to allow a bit more space for individual interaction within levels, and it's not surprising that games like ibb & obb and the recent Rayman installments have inspired this game.
Shift Happens is primarily designed with local co-op in mind, but there will be a separate set of levels for a single-player experience. As in ibb & obb, players will have to work together to get through each level, but this game also have a competitive aspect in that you can kill your partner to steal the coins they've collected. Sounds like a game that will be a ton of fun to play with a family member or friend in front of the TV.
Klonk Games is using Unity3D for their game, and according to the game's Steam Greenlight page, they're aiming for a Linux release.
