We are on indiegogo!

By - | Views: 8,335
Well there is a first time for everything while i appreciate the small amounts now and then we get from donators (thank you!) it's not enough to cover hosting costs. Our hosting is currently paid 100% until 12th Feb 2013 so we are all secure until then.

Currently hosting costs are usually paid out of my own pocket.

So I present our indiegogo campaign to pay our hosting costs so I can worry more about content and the new website than gathering money for hosting costs!

Not sure how this will go first time for me doing anything like this, so help if you can! :)

Update 1:
If you pledge at least £20 each pledger at this level will have ad-free browser for a whole year on the new website when it goes live - you will need to of course be logged in for that perk to work. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Just a question, will this mean some of the ads go away?
Liam Dawe Dec 22, 2012
Not until the time they previously paid for is up - the current ads are what paid our hosting until Feb next year :).

Who cares, we all use adblock don't we? Well I disable it for websites I like anyway, and this site is on of them.

This isn't about making the website ad free but to try to get a small amount towards hosting costs.

People are free to use adblock nothing I can do to stop them :)

Yeah, obviously. Btw., I remember that we had gotten a similar offer of a casino ad at Widelands, but we had to put it in as a permanent blog post (which we didn't like).

I do hope that this place is gonna stay. Also, any ETA on the rollout of the new site?
Liam Dawe Dec 22, 2012
Heh I have the same offer sitting in my inbox at the moment!

The new site originally planned for end of the month but been so busy with holiday preparations its not quite as good as I want it to be so in putting a target for end of January but hopefully sooner.

Got to put in article and forum post reply subscription amongst other things like "share this article to twitter, fb etc" and other minor issues.

Is there at least enough people consulting this website to get to 600? I'm the best donor yet, we just reached the amazing amount of 4 youpie lol

Thank you it all helps! Indiegogo offer flexible funding which we are using so we get all funds even if we don't hit the final goal. It's why I dislike Kickstarter since even if they are £1 off their final goal they don't get a penny.

This website is for this month averaging to hit 40,000 unique visitors so I would say it is reachable if enough people share it on their favourite websites and networks :)

This website is awesome, the most complete and up2date I have seen about linux games. I'm very pleased to help even if I can't give much. Let's see if linux users are as generous as humble bundle statistics let appear :p
