The currently in-beta Jagged Alliance: Back in Action is due to be pushed out properly to Linux users on the 14th of February.

We told you last year about the beta, so it shouldn't be a surprise (unless you where flooded by all the news!).

The developers stated publicly last month they were preparing a final patch:
QuoteHi everybody! We will be preparing one final patch for MAC and Linux and then release the version to the public. Expect a release in the next few weeks.

Again, I would like to thank all of you for your feedback. It has been great and very helpful.

It looks like a pretty decent turn-based strategy, having never played any JA game before myself I am looking forward to trying it out!

Thanks to the many people who sent this in!

You can grab it on Steam in anticipation below:

Usually we tell you to wait, but since it is already in beta and with a final release date so soon, I see no harm in buying it now! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Jagged Alliance 2 is one of my favourite games on Linux. Been playing it on my openpandora and n900 as well (although small screen makes it damn hard).

Never quite have the firepower to finish the game though. If this one is half as good, it will be worth it. Metacritic wasn't favourable last I looked though!

yes you control a group of units strategically, so is similar to XCOM and Arma tactics.

No it´s NOT a typical turn-based game.

JA and JA2 were both "TB", but JA: Back In Action is a "RTwP"-game. In other words Real-Time with Pause, kind of like playing Baldur´s Gate but all the characters have guns & grenades instead of swords & spells.

The game itself is OK. Quite fun combat, pretty graphics, character development, fairly large world and lots of equipment to make use of. The story & dialogue is quite weak though and it should have been given much, much more attention. That would have meant a great deal for the atmosphere and immersion of the game.

If you really want your Jagged Alliance to be [TB] instead of [RTwP], then you´re better off waiting for "Jagged Alliance: Flashback". They promise to bring back the "original flavour" of the series. ;-)

According to commercial and user reviews this is unfortunately not a good game.

Agreed... I'm still probably going to buy it though. Somewhere between charity, thanks for supporting linux and supporting Linux sales.

This game has been out a while, its probably on humble weekly sale soon for peanuts. I got Cities in Motion 1 + 2 via a weekly sale for nothing... I will go get all the expansion packs through steam if i must though, paradox can take all the money they want from me <3.
