The game was funded on Kickstarter two years ago, and was released for PlayStation 3 and 4 in May. This week it was released for PCs, but due to Bluetooth driver issues one of the four games in the compilation is missing in the Windows version.

According to the game's website, Sportsfriends is a collection of award-winning local multiplayer games:

QuoteFeaturing: retro-styled fighting game BaraBariBall, QWOP-like pole vault dueling game [Super Pole Riders], high-velocity sports game Hokra, and face-to-face physical party game Johann Sebastian Joust

The physical party game Johann Sebastian Joust is only available to Linux and Mac users since it relies on PlayStation Move controllers, and because it's not possible to reliably pair them to Windows, according to a Kickstarter update. The update goes on to quote a Microsoft engineer their programmer has been in touch with, saying "this is NOT possible in any way shape or form". Eventually the developer, Die Gute Fabrik, plans on open sourcing this one game, since it relies on other open source projects, like the PS Move API.

Since the game has been out for more than half a year, it has already received numerous reviews. And the critics are generally very positive in their reviews of the game, netting the game a Metascore of 82 for PlayStation 4. Polygon called it "the perfect game for people who don't enjoy sports" and gave it a 9 out of 10.

The game is available from Steam and DRM free from the Humble Store.
