The SteamOS beta for Rocket League has been updated, and it seems it has fixed a bunch of obvious issues.

Fixes:
- AA now works
- FPS is no longer locked to 60
- Splash screen appears when you click play, overall loading to main menu is faster
- Users on Mesa are reporting less loading time at the start of games
- Users on Mesa are reporting better loading times for items

There may be others, but I couldn't find official patch notes for the Linux/SteamOS version anywhere.

I've already put 13 hours into the game, and I dread to think how high that will be at the end of the year. Utterly addicted to it.

It's really pleasing to see issues getting fixed as promptly as this, hopefully the issues with it crashing to the desktop will be fixed soon too (if it isn't already better in this release). Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

So what's the general consensus?

A lot of people have been riled up about the incredible delay of this coming to SteamOS - and some of us believed it would not happen.

Is the Linux community willing to overlook the rough ride and enjoy a well designed, fun and addictive game?

In most cases I will salve my frustrations when developers change their attitude and or deliver, in this case the vexation is alleviated because OP delivered finally.

I am stoked too that it runs good on AMDGPU as it pairs nicely with my RX 480 - I just borrowed a copy for 20 minuets and it seemed fun.

I'm happy that it came and that I bought it, though it didn't really look like my cup of coffee.
And we're lucky that the game does so very well cross system. A multiplayer game released late without a healthy player base would be actually worthless.

I love it, buy it. It's seriously fun, performs really well and is already getting quick support in patches :)

it's quite addicting, I've been playing every day since it was released on linux. i'm up to level 23 pro status already. only downsides are random crashing to the desktop are still present after this update, and I hope a method of assigning controllers is developed. the random crashing is a minor annoyance to me, it loads quick and it never does it in the middle of a match which is good.

I guess they are really starting to push for this to be an esport.

I love it overall! :)
The battles are intense and gameplay lots of fun.
Also battles do not take much time so is very convenient for me since I dont have a lot of time to spend.

Just add me on steam if you want to play/practice with me

The update fixed my audio issue, I no longer have to issue killall pulseaudio before launching. I'm really surprised they didn't fix the certificate issue for multiplayer, where you have to link the cert bundle for some systems including Fedora. It seems like it should be a really easy fix and the issue is plastered all over the web, including the Steam forums.

I am glad they fixed the audio as it was something I had to do every time I launch the game, I only to make the symlink once.
