Verde Station, a short first-person sci-fi experience has gone free

By - | Views: 12,806

Taking place on board a space station, Verde Station is a short and lonely experience and it no longer has a price attached to it. Contributor Eike wrote about it for us previously, making it sound like quite an interesting walking and exploration sim.

The developer said they've made it free, as it's been out for long enough that they don't really make much money from it. So they would "rather people just play it and enjoy it without any barriers" which is quite nice. However, they made it clear it won't really see any support now either but you can't really expect support forever for a free game that's now five years old.

Verde Station is a first-person story/experience game set on a space station. During your year long solo mission you begin to question the world around you. The game reacts in subtle ways to how you play. Aboard Verde Station, you will test your wits, question everything, and strain to keep your sanity. Welcome to solitude.

You can find it on Steam, free.

Hat tip to Dolumis.

Nice move, would be nice if more devs handled it that way ^^
(maybe not yet after 5 years, as then maybe many people would wait for it though...)

I've not heard of the game before, but i'll give it a go, space is always a good start ;)

It's...an okay game. While I appreciate what it tries to do, and there are some really good ideas in there, but when I played it at least they weren't developed enough to really make them work.

Fine for a free game, I suppose.

There's an GoL article about it linked. Basically a walking simulator where you're the only one on a space station, trying to cope with loneliness and boredom.
